What Would Be A Good Business Next To A Strip Club?

Saturday, September 4, 2004 10:12 AM
There is this small retail space perhaps 900 SF next door to my favorite strip club--The club is very low end. The club wanted to lease the space, but ran into complications with the liquor license.

The strip mall next to Tycoons in Detroit died a slow death. The entire mall has been raised and is being replace by a Lowe's Hardware, shoe repair and fast food place. We'll see what happens.

When Foxes in Tacoma, WA opened up, there was a pool hall and a few other strip mallish businesses that attracted High School boys. Almost every guy I know played pool at 17yrs old and then visited the SC at 18.

I was tinking about this topic just the other day. Recently, my clothes dryer broke down and i have had to go a few times to the local laundry mat, use the dryer and do a few errands to kill some time. it must really suck if you have to use both the washers and dryer. Imagine if a strip club was next door!!! The only drawback, laundary mat customers are usually not your most desireable or have cash to burn, but it would work for me.

I know of one club where the actual building where the club is at is owned by the truck driving firm next door. Another I like to visit is next to a corn field, which is probably appropriate considering the farmers who go there. Another club I like to visit is right next door to the fire department, which is appropriate considering how hot the action gets there. Another one I visit is across the interstate from a porn shop and I know of at least 2 next to porn shops. In truth, who cares, since no one ever goes to the business next to a strip club anyway?

Due to local zoning in the neighborhoods around here, many of the SC end up i the same areas as the auto repair shops. I know of at least three places which aren next to quick lube stations. Husband: "Hey honey, I have to go get an oil change again." Wife: "But it's only been 2,000 miles"

Hi Shadowcat, that is also a good suggestion. But, the club is making payoffs which means a massage parlor would need to do the same. My friend opened a business like that many years ago and I urged him NOT to--even though he had the hot girls--because I believed he could NOT stand the pressure from the police. He talked fearlessly. The police came and he collapsed immediately (which was the smart thing to do). The porn shop next door was taken by the club many years ago. The other porn shop next door went out of business.

That is a good suggestion. Thank you. Almost all of the dancers are black and black women spend an absurd amount of time and money on their hair in general. So when this hair salon opened it was like great idea. It was all geared toward black women. And, the dancers I talked said the deals were good. So I wondered aloud why did the shop die? The answer was that most of these particular dancers really work at saving money. Very concerned at keeping their expenses down. Anyway, their outfits don't look like first class. I'll have to check and see if I can find out much they're spending on club clothing. I was thinking of some type of key club for the dancers. From what I've heard the dressing room is hell.
