LINDEN — Four Middlesex County men were arrested after a fight outside Cheeque's Lounge left several clubgoers injured early Saturday morning, according to police.

The brawl between two groups of men leaving the bar erupted shortly before 3 a.m., and an officer on patrol nearby saw gunshots being exchanged, Capt. James Sarnicki wrote in a statement.

During the fight, two men reportedly ran to a silver Hyundai and retrieved a gun which one then fired into the crowd. Someone in the other group pulled out a gun and began firing back, Sarnicki said.

Officers stopped the Hyundai as it left the scene and arrested two occupants, Sidney Williams III of New Brunswick and Kevin Greenleaf of North Brunswick. Officers found a 9mm handgun nearby in the grass and believe it likely had been thrown from the car, Sarnicki said.

Detectives who responded to the scene later recovered a second handgun, a .380 caliber.

Williams and Greenleaf, both 23, were each charged with aggravated assault and weapons violations. Greenleaf additionally has contempt warrants out of New Brunswick, North Brunswick, Bridgewater and Elizabeth, according to police.

Another passenger in the car, 23-year-old Rajon McMillian of North Brunswick, was also arrested for possession of marijuana.

Kashawn Hicks, 23, of New Brunswick, was arrested at the scene for possession of ten folds of heroin. He and McMillian were released on summonses.

Greenleaf is being held on $202,500 bail and Williams on $200,000, pending an April 27 court date.

Officers had to review video footage from the bar and parking lot as part of the investigation, police said.

No one was struck by the gunfire, but several patrons were treated by the Linden Fire Department ambulance for other injuries sustained in the fight, according to police.

Yet another reason to avoid New Jersey.
Say isn't it illegal to own any type of fire arm in New Jersey. Didn't they just arrest a collector because he had a 200 year old unloaded flint lock pistol in his car and charge him with a felony. They feared he would be able to find the ingredients to make the black powder, mold the correct size ball and load the pistol all before the local cops could shoot him with his 16 shot Glock.
I'd bet good money that those guys bought their firearms illegally.
