Yes, there have been lots of lawsuits over min wage or contractor status in SC's. First I know of was in the 90's in San Francisco. I read about it in Hustler Magazine.
If one is careful and follows all the rules, one can set it up so that Contractor Status works.
Steve229 quoted an article where they were calling this 1099 and associating it with Silicon Valley Startups. They were saying that because a strip club owner lost a lawsuit, Silicon Valley Startups would be hurt.
I disagree totally. The law suit was just for that one strip club. And only the sleaziest types of dot com bubble inspired start ups try to classify people as contractors. Everyone else follows the rules and pays people fairly.
