Tony Gwynn gone

I just heard the news on the radio a few minutes ago. I didn't know that he had been battling cancer for a while. Such a shame for someone with his zest for life to die so young.

I had not heard. The best or one of the best pure hitters of my generation.

Plus, he turned down more money to stay a Padre. For 20 years.

Motor, what do you mean "one of the best"? :)

One of the coolest things about tony was he was such a class act.

He was one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. That's sad to hear.

Fuck. Tony Gwynn? That sucks. Good old Bob Welch passed away last week. Damn.

Tony Gwynn was a cool guy and a terrific athlete. He played basketball in college as well. I knew he had been battling cancer and hoped for a better result. RIP Mr. Gwynn.

A smooth swing that even Ted Williams said was one of the best. Funny, modest, and was a true class act. Far ahead of a lot of the "stars" in the game today.

I think I heard his cancer was in the mouth/cheek area and although it could not be confirmed; I heard Gwynn thought it was from using chewing tobacco as it was way common back in the day in baseball.
