Actually, Clubber, since the New York "ferries" are double-ended, they are actually Bisexual Boats - they go both ways.

Slick, the only ferry disaster I can find was in South Korea. A couple of the reports came from SF where some families were waiting for news.

What happened? Did Boy George drown?

South Koreans don't know how to drive ferrys and the captain was the first one off into the life raft while 200 kids drowned.
