Next to Blues, I dig Soul. Until tonight, I had never heard of the 60's Louisiana band, Little Bob & the Lollipops. If you like some sweet soul music, this is the jam!

last commentI have discovered some music while hanging out at strip clubs. Also the DJs on 2001live.com are pretty cool ($25/month membership fee). Pandora radio, slacker radio, spotify radio are other cool sites.

If you like Soul, listen to Adele.
Start with her debut album, which is called 19.

Thanks GV, I love Adele and this reminds me I need to listen to 19, since I never have...
Alucard, I'll find some classical stuff to listen to this week. I'm a fan of Chopin's Nocturnes, esp the one in E minor.
A few times I've talked a dancer into getting the DJ to play these upbeat old soul, rb, dance records like 'I Got Loaded', Otis, Toots, Jackie Wilson, James Brown, etc. It starts off with a WTF?! moment but the girls on stage usually get into it because it's a break from the same top 40 and rock songs that get played every night.

Chopin is a nice choice.

Thanks Che! I like JLH, hadn't heard that one before. I've never given Billie Holiday a try, I'll do that, though.
Here's a band my friend introduced me to from England -- The Heavy. More funk than soul, but really good.
