references and screening

Does anyone know how the screening and references thing works with escorts? I've seen this mentioned on a few backpage ads. Also any opinions on backpage vs agency's. Have not tried an escort yet, but I'm thinking about giving it a try.

Shit.
Try http://www.whatsyourprice.com. They keep talking about it on the pink site. Or go to the pink site and hook up with an escort there.
What's a new guy to do?
Are you guys freakin' serious? I haven't used an escort for a little while but I used them frequently in the past and never once jumped through these hoops with any Canadian escort.
Probably the difference in Canadian prostitution law has something to do with this.
Well post your name and place of work! (You had to know that was coming?!?!)
Catch 22.
Second, look for an escort review board local to your neighborhood. Mr. Google can help. If you can't find one, use a national review board, such as TheEroticReview.com
Third, look for escorts that have multiple reviews over a period of a few years. This is the most trustworthy escort; the fact that she's still around with good reviews means that she's not a rip-off artist and not LE.
Fourth, call and explain your lack of references. She'll probably offer an alternative; or take you the way you are. If she won't see you, ask her for a recommendation of a girl who might have lower screening standards. During the call, do not ask about specific services or fees; that's a red flag for escorts.
Fifth, write a review. This isn't really for your fellow pooners; it's for future girls you want to connect with. Make it detailed enough that anyone reading it will know that the event really happened. Be as positive as you can be.
Sixth, when you're trying to set up a meeting with another girl, use that previous review as evidence that you're for real.
After skimming reviews, you'll find plenty of sad stories: no shows, doesn't match photo; can't provide full service because has run out of condoms; answers cell phone during the act; has a boyfriend in the other room. That's a good argument for using reviews. But of course, I'm just guessing at how this all works.
I agree with those who won't give employment info. Won't
Some want a business receptionist phone number and your name so that they can call the business, hear the name, and then ask for you by name, rather than number. That doesn't seem very smart to me, but apparently some guys get away with it.
Some want numbers from other provider's and enough information from you, i.e. description, name, whatever, not just to find out if you're a cop, but also whether or not you're a creep, or violent, or prone to leaving without paying.
Still others want one of the verification sites. Some sites have a mutual review system. Mongers can review providers and providers can review mongers.
It *is* difficult to get one's foot in the door in an environment where *everybody* seems to want references.
Wow, jestie is pretty bold to hand out his "janitor" business card. That must really impress people.
