First Adult Site on .XXX Goes Live

Saturday, August 6, 2011 2:55 PM
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.—The first adult website on the .xxx domain extension currently is live. [view link], a hardcore European amateur site, recently debuted well ahead of general availability in December. [view link] falls under ICM Registry's Founders Program, under which the registrar grants priority registration .xxx domains to leading members of the sponsored adult entertainment community. While the .xxx domain has been active for a few months, [view link] marks the first site to go live that's outside of ICM's ownership or management, [view link] reports. "We closed the Founders program on Sunday and obviously some of the early founders are excited to get their new .XXX sites live as soon as possible,” ICM Registry's Greg Dumas told AVN. “It's great to see some new high-quality sites on the new .xxx real estate using domains that haven't been used for adult in .com such as [view link]. These webmasters have clearly spotted some great opportunities for new revenues in .xxx. We look forward to more new and exciting .xxx sites coming online ahead of our official launch on Sept. 7." According to previous reports, domains will be awarded to those in the Founder's Program on a first-come, first-served basis. It is anticipated that the program will be limited to 50 participants. â€[view link] is registered to a Really Useful Ltd, which appears to have been set up purely to build sites on .xxx domains, of which [view link] is the first of several,” according to [view link]. General availability for .xxx domain names is slated for December. [view link]

People have been suggesting a xxx domain for well over a decade now. It sounds like a good idea, it would certainly make it easier for internet filters to do their job. But what do you determine goes there? Besides the obvious hardcore pornography, some sites of an 'adult' nature may not take too kindly being corraled into that domain. (i.e. tuscl). Many sites that feature nudity don't consider themselves pornography and many sites that simply discuss adult themes don't contain nudity. They may feel a xxx domain is a negative stigma they don't want. Plus I'm not convinced every adult site would want a xxx domain anyway. Most of those creators seem to pride themselves on taking every available avenue to see to it that you stumble across their site....whether intentional or not.

They aren't moving existing sites by force. It is just available if a site wants it.

I checked it the website - not a bad start. Although I always wonder how much "reality" comprises these reality porn sites. On this site, supposedly some dufus with a video camera can talk hot women into all sorts of sex with nothing more than the hint of making a connection to the porn world for them. Nothing wrong with the visuals of course, but the pretense seems suspect.
