The operator of several strip clubs in the metro area has lost his job as tennis coach at Golden High School after he was arrested in a prostitution sting on West Colfax Avenue.
Troy Lowrie, who operates PT's Showclub in southwest Denver among other clubs, was cited for furthering the act of prostitution, according to court documents. He was released after booking.
At 2:15 p.m. July 13, Lowrie allegedly approached a female undercover Denver police officer who was working in a prostitution sting and engaged the officer multiple times, according to the complaint against him.
Driving a black Hummer, Lowrie allegedly circled the block, whistled, waved and honked to get the officer's attention. Lowrie allegedly asked the officer at least twice if she was a cop.
"He did not agree to a deal, but stated that he had money," according to the complaint.
Lowrie allegedly told the officer he owned PT's and asked her to "work for him."
Beyond running a string of strip clubs, Lowrie, who lives in Golden, coached the Golden High School tennis team since 2009.
Jeffco Schools, after finding out about the incident, terminated the coach and sent a letter to school parents about the incident.
The notice reminded parents that Lowrie is innocent until proven guilty. It also said Lowrie "is not currently employed by the school district."
District spokeswoman Lynn Setzer described Lowrie as a "contract" employee who only coached tennis and said the district's position is that he's "not eligible to be rehired" in light of the complaint. Setzer said Lowrie was put through a background check before being hired by the district. She said she thought the check was through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation but wasn't certain about that.
Lowrie declined to comment and referred calls to his attorney, Harvey Steinberg.
Steinberg could not be reached.
Lowrie has a court date scheduled Aug. 11.

I'm sure his lawyers will get the charges dropped. It's obvious he was simply conducting a job interview.
There could be a misunderstanding:
"However, according to news reports, the official complaint also indicated that Lowrie "did not agree to a deal, but stated that he had money,†and that he told the officer he owned PT's and asked her to "work for him."

Also interesting that this bust happened at 2:15pm in the afternoon instead of at night.
