  I'll leave the camels and goats to the local boys. My reference to Dubai was suggestive. Those who have traveled there know it is a den of iniquity. And Oman is not without opportunities for fun. Wherever there is income disparity, there is potential.

  Is that the "120 most recent posts" or the "120 most recent posters" or the "120 most recent topics" ? The fact that 2 people have 106 posts each suggests it's not just the "120 most recent posts". Also did you go through manually and count up the numbers, or did you write a script to crawl the discussion forums and record the numbers?

  Oh gilllydon gets the prize for the most nerdy response. 120 most recent posts. Recorded manually with a tally sheet. The 2 posts at 106 are the same guy. As I said, there is sort of a bug in the recent reviews list. If you post two reviews, one right after the other, they will both show your number of posts as your current number. So the guy with 106 posted review #1 and it showed as his 105th review, but then when he posted review #106, his review total now shows as 106 on both reviews. Any other technical questions? Anyone want to debate the merit of median versus mean? As for camels, this is a society in which the Muslim women dress in public exclusively in an "Abaya", which is a black full length gown, with only their faces showing. There are no public displays of affection between men and women, and no obvious dating. All Internet porn is blocked by the country firewall, and there are no nudie magazines, and no porn videos. What is a single guy to do?

  Oh you mean "120 most recent reviews" as opposed to "120 most recent discussion comments." So 32/120 = 26.7% of recent reviews have been written by people that were posting their first review, and 56/120 = 46.7% of recent reviews were written by people posting their 1st/2nd/or 3rd review. This distribution suggests there are plenty of new visitors to the site, as well as a good number of people that have been here a while. If you're bored it would be interesting to see the statistics on whether the newbie reviewers give higher average ratings (at a statistically significant level) than the experienced reviewers. If they do it might be because they haven't been to many clubs and are thrilled just to see nude girls, or because the experienced reviewers have developed higher standards and are rating new random clubs from travel. If they have on average lower ratings then it might mean the experienced reviewers already have a good sense of which clubs are good and stick to those and continue to rate them highly.

  Clubber, I agree! Troop, the attitude here in Oman about bin Laden's death is a little detached. To understand, you have to know about Muslim sects. The sect in Oman is an ancient spinoff, called Ibadi. They view themselves as separate and pure, and they don't align with the major sects. That means they are not going to get involved in the Sunni vs Shiite sectarian violence, and they are not going to embrace some fanatic Saudi from a Yemeni family (bin Laden). I think they are politically neutral, but personally the men here seem to understand we had to hunt him down. If there is one thing common in the Arab world, it is that it is essential to defend your tribe. Our action against bin Laden fits into that well.

  jackslash, I thought it was an issue of how you distribute your log. The way some guys spread it around is just not normal.
