Detroit...again

I'm planning a trip to SC Mecca, that's right, Detroit. I know there are sometimes LE sweeps at some of the clubs there and I was hoping some of the locals could PM if they have any intel on what's been going on in the clubs there...good, bad, or indifferent. Much appreciated.

Detroit hasn't been enforcing its recent draconian strip club regulations. And many of the best clubs are in the suburbs. You will be more in danger of going broke than being arrested.

I am not in Detroit much these days, but I've been there enough in the last few months to concur with jackslash. What the Detroit boys generally do when they do their sweeps is go to the dressing room with the dancers and check their Detroit dancer's licenses. Occasionally, and I stress, only occasionally does anything more happen. Most times, the bars know when the Morality Unit is coming in. In the suburbs(of our wonderful Wayne County), the sky is often the only limit. I've been to Bogarts, Penthouse and Players on my last trip up. I was offered everything, as usual.

A recent rash of shootings and hold-ups at some SCs in Detroit is ground for caution. Five clubs were held up last month by a gang using AK-47s. On April 9, 2011 Cheetah's on Eight Mile Road was the scene of a double shooting, one fatality. No, it's not the wild west and most clubs are safe. I would clear out by 12 midnight just to be safe.

Thanks SuperDude for adding that. The guys that did the AK-47 holdups are behind bars, but let us all hope it doesn't spur a group of copy-cats. And Cheetahs, I can't add anything, but yeah, this is the Big City with a lot of unemployed who have gotten desperate.

It does seem to be a "down" time for enforcement. I remember back when the cops where all over the place for a 2-3 week period that one guy posted how historically this has been very cyclical. Seems like a down time now. That whole robbery thing and the Cheetahs things seem pretty much isolated incidents, although Cheetahs seems to have a lot of isolated violence issues. I would call it an "indifferent" time. Although with all the lawsuits flying around, a casino opening in Flight club, and the spike in "random" violence, I don't think we can ever call the SC's in the area a 100% safe proposition. Just keep your eyes open for anything suspicious, and you'll be fine.
