Teen Girls Dress like Strippers at Prom

Wednesday, March 31, 2010 3:26 PM
Things have certainly changed since I went to my prom, lol. “Prom is going porn this year. The days of dressing like a lady are over -- with teens preferring to parade around at their first big dance looking more like strippers than schoolgirls. The hot trend is slutty chic -- with cleavage-revealing frocks, bellybutton-baring gowns and dresses made of barely enough fabric to make a washcloth. "I can't believe that mothers let high-school girls buy these dresses for prom," said one sales associate at Saks Fifth Avenue, embarrassed to be selling a collection of prom dresses that were more appropriate for the main stage at Scores than a high-school gym.” [view link]

I've heard it said that girls have liked to dress like that for a while-recently observed a lolitaesque high school girl (a neighbor) who dressed like an on duty stripper. I was very tempted to ask how much she charged. Back in the mid 1970's, when I was in Junior high, girls in my school dressed like on duty strippers-but that very same school system had a problem wherein 75 percent of senior girls were married and/or pregnant. I think Gloria Stinem's feminist revolution failed miserably.

They don't look like stripper outfits to me, but they also don't look like 16-year old girl appropriate dresses either

The one in the front is a bit much, but the long dress with the halter looks like something from the 70s. I was in Louisville, Ky for a conference last November and there was a big group of college students in the hotel. When they came down to the lobby on their way out for the evening, there was an amazing display of short, short skirts, low cut tops, and high heels. Maybe not stripper fashion, but certainly an eyeful. I agree with Dudester; the feminists tried to emasculate men and defeminize women. They certainly failed in the latter, since young women are more brazen and exhibitionistic than ever. They have used their feminist empowerment to be even more effective dick teasers. Its the Spice Girls version of "girl power!"

I read somewhere about a girl complaining about the freshmen class of girls being very slutty sleeping with lots of guys. She said they were sleeping with too many guys. That statement makes it sound like standards are going down and girls are acting like some guys or maybe things have reversed now. I don't know. I can't remember where I read this either. Oh, maybe I stumbled upon it in a random youtube video I started watching out of curiousity. I sometimes watch random videos if the title makes me want to find out what it is about.

Where ever I go, what ever age I've been....it was always better some other place or some other time. Seems like I was born in the wrong era/location completely!

I've seen some of these dresses in stores shopping with my friend. She understands the fashionable but as a Mom with standards she draws the line at revealing too much or llookig slutty. Prom dresses used to be formal, elegant and made the statement that I'm now an adult with style and elegence in a manner that suited personality--that is, subdued colors, of flashny colors. The fashion trend now seems to abandon the formal/elegance theme and go simply for "I'm sexy." Businesses try to outdo each other and this is the result.

If you happen to catch any of the "Sweet 16" shows on MTV you can see great examples of rich, spoiled kids turning their own expensive and classy events into tacky and slutty spectacles, all with mom & dad's money and tacit approval. The sad thing is that none of them seem to know the difference.
