Police: SC state attorney caught with stripper

Wednesday, October 28, 2009 8:37 PM
A deputy assistant attorney general who said he was on his lunch break when an officer found him with a stripper and sex toys in his sport utility vehicle has been fired, his boss said Wednesday. Roland Corning, 66, a former state legislator, was in a secluded part of a downtown cemetery when an officer spotted him Monday, according to a police report obtained by The Associated Press under the Freedom of Information Act. As the officer approached, Corning sped off, then pulled over a few blocks away. He and the 18-year-old woman with him, an employee of the Platinum Plus Gentleman's Club, gave conflicting stories about what they were doing in the cemetery, Officer Michael Wines wrote in his report, though he did not elaborate. Corning gave Wines a badge showing he worked for the state Attorney General's Office. Wines, whose wife also works there, called her to make sure Corning was telling the truth. He then searched the SUV, where he found a Viagra pill and several sex toys, items Corning said he always kept with him, "just in case," according to the report. Corning and the woman were let go without charges. Wines' wife reported the call to her supervisor, who told Attorney General Henry McMaster. "We received credible information about inappropriate behavior Monday afternoon," McMaster said Wednesday. "And by the close of business, he was no longer working here." Such a trip to the cemetery "would not be appropriate, at any time, for an assistant attorney general," McMaster said. Link to story: [view link]

Should have claimed he was conducting a 6-month long undercover investigation - hey, it worked in Atlanta, Seattle, etc. Wait, a mitciv post about ... strippers? WTF?

It's funny how you left this part out of your article wing-nut: "There was no answer Wednesday at a number listed for Corning, who was a Republican legislator in the late 1980s and early 1990s." [view link]

shadowcat, she was an 18 year old so she must not have been stripper very long. Did you know a lot of 18 year old strippers at PP that are worth OTC?

samsung1, I think I only Know/knew a couple under 20 and never have had FS ITC or OTC with any of them. I prefer them more experienced. Say 24-36.

I got a text from one of the dancers that reporters were at the club trying to interview the dancer. I don't know who she is or if I have met her. More here: [view link]

Any more updates on this story? I think its funny that it made the front page of MSNBC yesterday, but you can't even find it on TheState home page...... Could the local media be giving this guy a pass? I'm a big fan of platinum & I hope the incident doesn't bring new LE scrutiny to the club. Anyone find out who she is/was? (assuming she's been fired by now)

I don't want to point fingers but the only 18 yo that I have heard of there recently went by "Skittles" and I know nothing about her. As many fans that this club has, that post on here, I am sure the name will come out.

It would be a tough decision to fire her...I am sure there are several guys visiting PP for the first time to check her out. I know I would if I lived in the area. Reminds me of the Elliot Spitzer escort situation. He got in trouble but the escort became somewhat of a celebrity.

I just returned from a 3 day trip to the club. I managed to piece this together from Sammy (day manager) and 3 dancers. Her stage name was (K)(C)asey. She was actually a shooter girl. She was 18. She had short cropped blond hair. She had only been working at the club for about 3 weeks. The club canned her 2 hours after learning about the scandal. The prosecutor was a regular at the club and not a popular one. The news media hung outside the club for about 4 days. It hurt business. Who wants to be seen on the 6 o'clock news?
