Where are all the video booths?

How I miss my New York City in the 90's. I missed the heady days of the 70's and the healthier though still raunchier 80's, but the 90's had their glory days.

On those afternoons when I felt a little itch I could meander down to Times Square and for a dollar or five fondle the lovelies any where they allowed or catch a live show that one has to go dogging nowadays to see. 30 minutes and then, itch sufficiently scratched I could go about my day, none the worse for wear.

I know this was as prevalent in CT as it was in NY, but still there were video booths and .... possibilities.

Now, however, those opportunities have vanished. The only equivalent is maybe a bj at romantics for the price of a token but that's from a guy and not at all what I'm interested in.

If you want to see some skanks from a distance, one can visit George's Cafe or Bishops, but you might endanger your safety as well as your reputation. Scruples and Ruby II are nice. There's hands on (for the most part) and the girls are friendly and mostly willing. I haven't been to Mystique but I hear it's a ridiculous set up.

Pleasant Moments is the only place where you might find some release but you risk being arrested it seems.

Oh, sure there are the massage parlors but - and I don't want to seem cheap - $200 bucks for a decent hour just doesn't seem worth merely an afternoon distraction.

Insert heavy sigh here, but i really do miss those more innocent days.

I remember those days, except I think you're speaking of the live show booths, right? As I recall, there were typically several private stalls adjacent to a stage where the girls would dance. You enter, lock the door behind, and then for a buck or two, the opaque window would roll up and you could stick your hand in to grope the girls when they came by.

I remember plenty of boob feels, plus some pussy. The girls could control how much you got by positioning themselves how they wanted when near you. It was surreal to look side to side and see the arms of other guys sticking through the windows. And of course, the window time for your buck was short, so you were always having to pull your arm out before it got caught.

Those were indeed the days... :)

Been a few years, but you used to be able to get oral or laid at either George's Cafe (one little area in back) or Bishop's (whole row of stalls) up in Bridgeport. No more?

Nashville also had these in the 80's-90's with holes strategically placed in the glass. With the appropriate tip (10,20 ,30 I think) you could get any service you wanted through the hole in the glass. In its heyday there were girls in 5 or so booths and all were actively engaged in a sex act with a customer. Pretty funny to listen in on the outside since most of the booths had no roofs and the conversation inside was quite audible to the crowd outside.

I just came across this article yesterday: http://www.dnainfo.com/20110803/midtown/…

and thought "that's not how I remember the nyc peep shows", glass partitions between the girls and customers would be no fun. Not sure when that ended, can we blame Giuliani for that?

Yes, we can blame Giuliani for that, plus the stupid laws that force the peeps into bad areas and give them their bad name in the first place. All you gotta do is go someplace Montreal to see how good these kinds of things can be when they're legal, run like legitimate business, and as much accepted/tolerated in society as mini-marts and beauty salons.

In the Combat Zone's heydays between the early 70s through the mid 80s Liberty Bookstores had those type of booths, where the performer would have a picture of herself or a bad likeness on the door and there would be specialties like bondage, a she-male, etc you would buy tokens for time and put cash in a slot for the right type of entertainment. Those were fun times. I remember back in 1975 when I first turned 18 walking into a bookstore where there were live models, you would go into a room for about $20.00, big $$ back then and get a show.

Yeah, they were called live show booths. I remember the first one I walked in to. I was a nervous 18 year old for a three day visit. I made a bee-line to 42nd street, went inside and for a single dollar there was a guy and a girl fucking on a stage surrounded by these booths. Another place had like 15 asian girls standing against a wall and you could call one over. (I felt kind of bad for them. They were clearly not happy, probably unwilling.) The best though was when a girl actually wanted you there (unlike the wife, lol). You could believe you were actually a cut above since it was only a dollar she was working so hard for.

sigh. I preferred the days before the clubs in our area remodeled. Don't get me wrong, I prefer not having to burn my clothes after sitting in the joint for a bit, but the girls seemed to overlook the rules and the manager looked the other way.

I remember those days, when I became of legal age. The booth scene was rather intimidating on 42d street for a newbie. 42d street was like a giant pit in those days. And then I figured out why the booths were regularly mopped....Prefer stage shows with attractive women.

I remember my first and only peep booth experience in the late 80s a bunch of us spilling out onto the NYC streets after a Grateful Dead concert peaking on acid. We came across the booths (all of about 16 years old) and giggling like schoolgirls we would basically on a dare go in one by one. I remember the first guy coming out ashen and horrified looking. I think I went in 3rd with great trepidation at that point. All I remember is the woman was hideous (the LSD didn't make her any better looking) and she was fingering her extremely hairy pussy and requesting I "whip it out and jerk it off". I then began noticing the adhesive texture of the floor and that was all I could take. The experience was about as erotic as the movie Eraserhead. Peep booths and blotter acid did not mix well for me or any of the people I was with. As for the Bpt clubs, you can still get laid at Bishop's or Pleasant Moments. Forget George's.
