I had a chance recently to go to a strip club in San Francisco. With my go-to place (Mitchel Brothers O'Farrell Street Theater) closed, I decided on Crazy Horse. This club is located on San Francisco’s main drag, Market Street, and is near Civic Center. It’s a couple blocks away from a BART station, the regional subway system, which is a good way to get to this club if you plan to leave by 12:30 am (the time BART starts shutting down). If you do drive, make sure to secure your vehicle and remove any valuables as the area to the south of Crazy Horse is a bit dicey.

After paying $25 at the door, I entered the club which had an earlier life as a theater. The main space is a long, thin rectangle with a downward rake from the entrance to the stage which is on the opposite end. Remnants of the old theater are visible along the side walls and ceiling, but these are not well integrated into the overall design. On the spectrum from high-end to worn-down, this club is definitely in the latter category though I have been in more beat up clubs than this one. They recently removed theater chairs and leveled off an area near the entrance and made it into a seating area with couches along the wall and chairs in the middle.
