Meets the Hype for Those Who Don’t Club Regularly
For what was a quick in and out visit for this upstairs club, not much stood out. At least in a good way.
Club Downtown gets more hype than the other clubs around, but I didn’t see that it was substantially better than Paree or Wandas. There is no entry after last call, and the club is narrow (like Wandas) but looks more like a bar than a full time club. The bouncer was a little intense, and I didn’t really feel comfortable settling in and trying to chat up dancers (who were attractive...all three of the clubs in section of downtown had a good selection of talent) because it seemed like the club was trying to get people out for closing time. Most of the dancers I saw here were white, but it might have just been the time of night. The layout was a little funky. Stages were placed somewhat awkwardly, visibility wasn’t great, and it felt a little cramped even without a heavy crowd. I just didn’t like the vibe, but again it was late so I wasn’t seeing the place at its best.
This was primarily a completist visit since it was right around the corner from Club Paree and I had seen everything I needed to see there. Private dances were $15 a song, which seems to be the going rate for two way contact at most places around Montreal. It was in the ballpark of the other clubs, but unlike Wandas the dances could be bought one at a time. Aside from table dances, I was quoted blocks of time for private dances over there. Out of the three clubs in that part of downtown, I preferred Club Paree. This place and the surrounding clubs were nice, but I much preferred the clubs outside of town for my time and money.
