I couldn't resist stopping by the Artistic Cafe, even though from past experiences, I know it to be the seediest of seedy dives. I walked by around midnight on a Saturday, and -- as expected -- a not-so-attractive dancer was lurking by the door trying to rope in unsuspecting johns desperate for a happy ending. Even at this prime hour of the weekend, there was no one on stage (if you can call the closet-sized platform a stage), and no dancers by the bar (other than the ugly step-sister who had ushered me in from the street). I did a Texas two-step and marched out. There are far better places in NOL to spend your hard-earned money.
