It had been awhile since I'd had been to Baltimore's Gentlemen's Gold Cub. So I stopped by a little before shift change on Tuesday and found out they're doing something a little different. They closed the doors on the main room with its two large bars and big stage with a two-story pole. Instead, they're using their smaller “Reflections†room for the lady dancers and customers on the lower volume Sundays through Tuesdays. Makes sense economically: On a low volume day, only use the smaller room and reduce some of your operating costs. My understanding is that the Reflections room is traditionally used on Friday nights for male dancers to entertain lady SC customers while the large main room has the lady dancers entertaining the guys. I don't recall the Reflections room being reviewed here before, so I'll go for some details here.
The Reflections room is decorated in a typical upscale club style. Mirrors line the two long side walls with honey oak stained wood, stone columns, and crystal chandeliers. The bar runs across the entire back wall. The bar and two rows of chairs and tables are tucked under a loft with undersides of dark stained heavy wooden beams and planking. A black painted steel staircase runs alongside the long right side wall giving access to the stage and loft. The underside of the loft reminds me a bit of a converted 19th century factory. The loft’s upper level is walled with frosted glass and contains the DJ booth and apparently a hallway leading to the dancers’ dressing rooms.
The stage is roughly a 10’ x 20’ oval with three 8-foot brass poles. It is approximately in the middle of the room, just shifted towards the right wall a bit to be adjacent to the staircase. Chairs and a ledge for drinks line the stage for those who want the up close and personal view. Chairs also line the left wall and a couple rows of tall chairs and tables complete the seating along the front wall. The front wall is dominated by a very large tank with koi and other aquatic creatures. The 2nd story of the front wall contains clear-glass enclosed showers. I’ve heard that you can arrange a shower-show with some of the dancers.
