I clicked "approve" on this since it sounds like you were there - but I'm still willing to give the earlier reviews more weight for my own consideration. Wackos sounds like one of the better clubs, outside of South Florida or Atlanta.

As strange as this review sounded to me, there was another reviewer Nov 24 who mentioned the possibility of "going to the kitchen", haha. I suppose guys who have a decore fetish, who want to be somewhere other than a traditional VIP cubicle, might like this.

I don't think I have ever read a review of a Scores that indicates good mileage to be had. It's a conservative brand... the "Olive Garden" of strip clubs.

He rated them with 8's.
This is one of the few clubs in the country with a truly private room. Most places have partial walls, cameras, bouncers. That probably influences ratings to be a little higher than the dancer quality sounds.

The price is not unusual. Around the country a half hour in VIP is commonly in the $200 to $300 range. Sounds like more privacy than average here, too.

Duh, just realized you were talking about Gastonia, not L&L South End in Charlotte. Yeah this place is low end, but I go in once in a while.
Yes there have been rumors it could close when the prior owner died and the city began redevelopment for the nearby ballpark.
Last I heard is that the club has grandfathered use for this location. That makes it worth something since it is very difficult now to get the permits to open a new club in Gastonia.

Well for guys who really don't want to park at the club, there is free parking across the street at the LYNX train station. Or you can park at one of the other stations and take the train to Gold Club.

It is not always dancers... One time I fled a club because the bartender from a sister club was hanging out, and asking me too many personal questions. I even told the door girl why I was leaving.
I warmed up my car, and encounterd the drunk visiting bartender one more time outside as I drove out... Yelling something at me....

I have resorted to finishing my drink and stating that "I need to be somewhere" and walking out of the club to escape a clingy dancer before. It is true that unwillingness to be rude and just state that you are not interested in someone's company, can be self detrimental...

One dancer talked me into the Exec Lounge on a slow night... She spat on her hands and reached in my pants. But to me the experience was more amusing than arousing.
There is not significantly more privacy than the rest of the VIP room - it is simply a couch facing away from the song counting station.

I agree with this review. There are positives. The club has comfortable cushioned chairs, draft beer, low admission cost. VIP is $25 a song.
But after about 5 visits I got bored with it... Have not been here for a year. The bouncers intrude too much on interaction with the dancers and I never spent more than $100 in an evening.

20 bucks to park! Sheez. For someone who visits Follies regularly, it might be cheaper to buy a membership at the 24 hour Fitness and park there. Even if you don't exercise, and just use the showers!

Just about every review of this club comes from curious newbies. I get the impression that it is too small and non-private to keep good dancers or regular patrons there.
MAL probably holds onto this club for sentimental reasons (as I think it was their first one) or perhaps they are holding out for a tippy-top offer from a developer. There has been so much gentrification in this area, that the land is very valuable. They are surely turning down offers.
I can't visualize this ever becoming a go-to club, though. The location is too visible to allow high mileage, and the limited parking puts a heavy constraint on being able to hold a crowd.

This club is nervous about operating in a culturally conservative area. I have heard that new girls are monitored closely, and if they allow too much touching, do get shown the door.
You have to become familiar with specific dancers, and generally can only get a brief nipple feel while her back is facing the cameras. So yeah, out-of-towners will find this club to be pretty tame.

The $40 VIP special is a shortened 2.5 minutes per song. It is a little better than the $30 per usual song, but not by much. I usually haggle for a package deal if going to VIP. Most of the ladies will agree up front to 4 for $100 or 3 for $80, etc.

This club is only a few miles from me, but I have a hard time persuading myself to go there. Go in before 7 to beat the cover, and I end up buying more than the cover fee in drinks and video poker until some attractive women are there on the night shift. I would rather drive to Charlotte, usually.

Yeah that is expensive. I might step inside someday, just to say I've been there. But even Scores at $35 a VIP dance is cheaper than that. 15 minutes is about 4.3 songs... and you can usually get ladies to agree on package deals at most clubs, if you buy 4 or more dances.

No, I think it is $150 for 15 minutes as earlier reviews stated. $100 to the stripper and $50 to the house. I have wondered if the SC management would be willing to negotiate the rate during slow daytimes. For me that is too close to the cost of buying VIP by the song, and losing the flexibility of managing time and money.

Pretty much agree with all of this. It's not a great club overall, but we're in Charlotte... not Miami, Detroit, etc. I have been coming here more often than others.
It's a medium-mileage club, but it does not have some of the negatives of other Charlotte clubs. No waitresses pressing on you to buy drinks. They don't have dedicated bouncers, just a couple of guys who are more like assistant managers who walk around and observe, count songs in VIP. Music is not too loud before the stage shows begin (9PM).
