I don't like IOTA: too many weird things and bad security choices. That my view in terms of its technology. I have no opinion on whether people will buy it despite the technology. So far they are. But I won't want to be around on the day people wake up to it. I'll invest in sounder technologies to reduce the risk. If people think they can figure out how to trade it: good for them!

Far from his initial populist idea which he decided just won't work he now wants to recruit the best of Silicon Valley it seems. (Digression if he doesn't think populism would work for a little organization like his, how does he expect it to work on a national/international scale? Answer he doesn't give a sincere fuck about it now and never did). So the plan now is recruit the best of Silicon Valley and have them contribute their wives and girlfriends as sex slaves and 24/7 prostitutes for the fun of members of his temple. So that's where his psycho imagination is at now. A guy whose idea of tech is PASCAL and DOS is going to get the best of Silicon Valley to come work for him. And not on technical stuff either. They'll use black magic to conjure out of thin air. And they will be so devoted to the cause that will donate their wives and girlfriends to the church for anyone to enjoy any time they. Said wives and girlfriends apparently will just blindly follow all this since their initiation is to be "sexual slavery" after all. The "malignant" in his malignant narcissism means if you think his current fantasy are bad they are just going to get worse over time. 50/50 he ends up on CNN as a mass shooter before he gets jailed or involuntarily committed to a mental institution.

@TABA: yes that was on GDAX, it happened in just a few minutes. Thinking about it some more, markets have often turned around just before trading halt levels or just a bit into them. The theory is that people who run the bots don't make any money when the market is halted. :-) So it could be that the halt will less BTC volatility.

I did find this interesting in the futures contract specification: "Price Limits: A market rise or decline means a rise or decline in price of the future between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. central time on a trading day, as compared to the closing price of the future for the immediately preceding trading day. There are three levels that will trigger a suspension or halt to trading at a price rise or decline of 7%, 13%, and 20%." 7%, 13%, and 20% are very common moves in Bitcoin. Think there will be lots of trading halts.

I also quite skeptical of your claim that no brokerage will allow Bitcoin shorting. If it's volatile they just increase the margin. Nope. There have been plenty of 20% or 30% drops in a day when it did not go down 50% later. And where are you finding option data to compute Bitcoin implied volatility from? For me cryptocurrencies are volatile enough that derivatives are not needed to make things move faster. I think the real use case is hedging.

Don't agree with much of the OPs post: 1) I think this is absolutely terrible advice. No do watch the ticker every 15 minutes. No don't get out because your favorite coin just dropped 20% in one day. Go in knowing there will be extreme volatility. If you cannot handle then don't get in at all. Do not glue your eyes to the ticker and get all emotional and sell at the bottom. Choose something you have strong conviction in so you don't get shaken out by normal market volatility. 2) Some coins have new supply created by mining. Others by proof of stake which use some energy but not much. Ethereum wants to move to proof of stake. I think environmentally conscience millennial will insist on it. 3) Definitely in the next 20 years. Things move faster now than they did in the past. Blockchain is one thing that will further accelerate the pace. 4) This is the one point I'm closest to agreeing with. I think finance and decision making will be the primary applications of block chain. There are others related to supply chains. Maybe some in the medical field too. Even though I disagree with the OP, it's nice to see someone thinking about it beyond just parroting what ever the financial media's consensus message is.

@Sirlapdancealot has @SJG pretty well figured out. I only have a couple of things to add: @SJG is a malignant narcissist who gets off on being hated. He is here to be hated and he loves it. Hate is his narcissistic supply. But like a drug addict he needs more and more of it over time. So he has to up his repulsiveness. His latest move came a few days ago when he admit that he wants women in his organization as "sex slaves". He used to try and hide his misogyny being saying women would merely have slightly different roles then men, but refusing to elaborate. Now all his cards are out there. The final thing, and a bit embarrassing to me, is that due to this deliberate strategy to up his repulsiveness over time, I was originally okay with. Thought he was just a friendly tech worker with some very left political leanings. But that is all a fraud. As I discussed tech with him: sometimes on the board, sometimes in PMs it became apparent how clueless he is. Leaving in a time decades. And not even have a logical mind like tech workers. I also believe that there was some sincerity in his claims that he wanted to help the world. But then I noticed his attitude toward women and realized his church was just his plan to get laid without having to pay. Apparently now it will be complete with "sex slaves". Maybe he is investigate ways to buy some from human traffickers. tl;dr completely agree that he is fraud, his organization (thankfully) purely imaginary and only about feeding the unfillable pit of his own ego.

I must say my TUSCL skills have helped me in the market. Realizing that most people are just mindless cock-sucking circle-jerkers (and we have tons of examples) and that you should do the opposite of them.
