    State Swings
By the way, there was a time that Red was associated with Democrats and Blue was associated with Republicans. That’s in part because red was associated with Communism. The Democrats managed to reverse this through their friends in the media to help with their branding.

In Arizona, Kari Lake has said she will call a special legislative session on day one to bring integrity back to voting. ID required to vote. As a result, Arizona will stay Republican. So will all the other red states that pass similar laws. In states with a Dem Governor and legislature, they will continue to hand out mail in ballots to anyone who asks and many who didn’t. They will stay Democrat for many years. We are fast approaching a point where there are 27 states that are certain to vote Republican and 23 states that are Democrat. The 27 states will balance their budgets, limit welfare benefits, and grow through people fleeing blue states. There will be 23 states that essentially provide guaranteed welfare to the lazy, have deficits, and hope for a Democrat Congress and President to subsidize their spending.

Stock market and interest rates. Told you so!
I also predict that inflation will go down, interest rates will decline, and the stock market will go up. It will happen sometime in the next 5 years. When it does, I’ll take full credit for my market savvy.

    State Swings
People in their 20s have been educated/indoctrinated by socialist teachers in grade school, high school, and college. Their teachers were indoctrinated in their school years by socialists. None of them ever owned a business or accomplished much of anything real or adult. Everything they’ve been taught about life came from someone who never held a real job, met a payroll, raised a family, paid a mortgage. It’s a generation of unmarried baristas who live at home and find what little satisfaction they have on social media, lying about their great lives. Sadly, that’s the future of America.

Barry Goldwater might have been better described as a contrarian libertarian than a conservative. The whole state was pretty much like that in the1980s. A steady inflow of Californians has changed that. Interestingly, in the 60s, 70s, and into the 80s, there was a group called the Phoenix 40. They included the top business people like the CEO of the local bank, newspaper publisher, etc. They would meet regularly and make major decisions for the State. These decisions would be passed on to the politicians whose campaigns were funded by the 40. That system actually worked pretty well. It’s one of the reasons Phoenix population grew so fast..

At the risk of making this slightly political, a Republican Congress could mean the market will bottom out soon. I’d keep the payout in cash for a few months, then go all in on Consumer goods stocks. No tech, no financial. Large, established traditional industries with little international exposure.

    Thailand- Any sites to recommend?
To avoid a really bad time, have an awareness that there are lots of ladyboys and they are very good at hiding their secret. They mostly hang out in the streets so the safest bet is in the clubs and massage parlors.

There are websites that have reviews and Bangkok nightlife guides to massage parlors and bars. Play around with key words like Bangkok massage, soapy massage, nightlife, Nana plaza, etc. They’ll pop up. There are a lot of options and different districts where they are found. It’s worthwhile to have a top down explanation before considering individual reviews. The one thing you won’t find is a tuscl type strip club. Incall soapy massage and outcall bars with bar fines are the most common options.

The mail in process was dramatically eased in most states in 2020 due to CoVid. Many states decided to mail ballots to everyone on voter registration. Dead people. People who moved years ago. Some apartments got ballots for 10 or more people. What happened to all these ballots ? Funny, but now that CoVid is behind us, few of these states have gone back to the long standing practice of only mailing ballots to people who request them. I wonder why ?

    Midterm Election
NBC has been tracking the early mail in ballots by party. Percentage breakdown by party in this order: Democrat-Republican-independent: Georgia: 49-42-9 Pennsylvania: 70-21-9 Wisconsin: 37-34-29 Arizona: 39-31-30 North Carolina: 39-31-30 New York: 58-24-18 Wash State: 58-30-12 New Mexico: 53-34-13 New Hampshire: 45-30-25 Michigan: 50-28-22 What does this likely men ? In 2020, Democrats had the overwhelming lead among mail in ballots while Republicans had an overwhelming lead among in person ballots. Plus, Independents leaned Democrat in 2020 but polling indicates that Independents ( I.e. Suburban Moms ) are leaning Republican in 2022. Based on that, mail in tallies suggest Republicans will have a very good day tomorrow, though Pennsylvania is raising red flags.

It is difficult and expensive to transport natural gas except through pipelines. Yes, the natural gas found in the US can be sold to other countries but only at a much higher price than gas provided to US consumers using available pipelines. The same holds true for coal and oil, to a lesser extent. In times of military conflict, this becomes a much bigger issue. Look at what’s happening to energy and food in Europe. They are chopping down ancient forests in Germany to get through the winter. That’s what I mean by energy and food independence. Unlike most of the world, we don’t have to worry that our food and energy supplies can be threatened.

“China is expanding.” China is in deep, deep shit. They have a lot of ships but they all have a range of under 1,000 miles. They can’t protect the shipping lanes from the Middle East. All it would take to crush China economically is a single destroyer positioned between India and Saudi Arabia to stop oil imports. Demographically, they have relatively few people of working age and a ballooning number of retirees. Average wages have skyrocketed. Many countries, including Mexico, have cheaper labor. Companies are fleeing China as fast as they can set up operations elsewhere. Financially, their real estate and banking industry has collapsed. They have no capacity for manufacturing micro chips except for the very cheapest and least powerful. The embargo on selling chips to China means entire industries can no longer produce goods.

A pull back by the US would lead to more regional conflict and force Europe and Japan to increase their defense spending. Both those things would have little impact on the US. Why should we subsidize the world ? America First.

    Trump Question
DeSantis has been working quietly to position for a Presidential run. He has a war chest of $200 million, has linked up with several Wall Street billionaire backer, held private meeting with anti-Trumpers like Paul Ryan, endorsed anti-Trump candidates. It’s no wonder Trump put a shot across the bow. He’s letting Desantis know he can turn his 70 million followers against Desantis if he runs in 2024. That would permanently end his Presidential prospects. If he tries to run in 2022, it will be a mistake ( unless Trump dies, shows signs of age, etc ). The smart move would be to focus on Florida for his full term ( like he promised ) then run in 2028.

Since WWII, we’ve been the World’s policeman. If trouble breaks out anywhere, we intervene. That has cost hundreds of thousands of US lives and trillions of dollars. Now that the Soviet Union is gone, and Communist China is collapsing, there is no justification for this. Why do we maintain 14 aircraft carrier battle groups ? We spend $1 Trillion per year on the military. If we decided the military’s job was simply to protect the US and trade routes with our allies, we could do this for a fraction of that. Beyond that, the massive Education Department accomplishes nothing. The added 80,000 IRS will simply add red tape for small business. The CIA and State Department bureaucracies are massive and are used to meddle in other countries affairs. The FDA spends more effort protecting big Pharma than protecting consumers. And on and on. Shrinking the federal government is the best thing we can do.

The Great Depression should have lasted 2 years, tops. Markets crash, businesses fail, then the economy grows back. Instead, it lasted 12 years because FDR increased the size of government and attempted to micro manage the economy. You know, Socialism. A reduction in the size of government would not “ cause a depression”. Just the opposite. It would reduce inflation and energize the entrepreneurial spirit.
