Where do you move and why?

I am also a Boston area resident . The Knoxvile TN area comes to my mind as my answer. Tennessee has no state taxes, no inheritance taxes, and a more temperate climate for this non skier.

Maybe the Caribbean Netherlands, for good climate with minimal hurricane risk.

There's a really nice, small house down the road, on about a hundred acres. I'd move there.

This feels like a recurring discussion topic, but fun to play along. I currently live in the house that I grew up in, and where my father also grew up. Despite the fact that my house will be 100 years old in 2027 (yes, it is a maintenance nightmare), I have 150 feet of west exposure Biscayne Bay in my backyard. My property taxes are homesteaded from 1996 when I bought out my siblings - and the appraised value of the lot alone has appreciated >25X from what I paid. Miami Beach might not be the best place to live, with traffic, crime, etc. but I can’t replicate this view anywhere at any price. And I can’t think about selling until someday when Congress decides to put a tax holiday on capital gains tax on residential real estate.

^ You do have a lifetime $250,000 tax exemption on residences, unless you are married and then it is $500,000.00.

Some place where it never snows, except in nearby mountains. The winter temperature generally stays around or above 50 and there is a college in town. Right now, I live in Arizona. I actually don't mind the summer heat, as long as the humidity stays low. Sometimes it gets a little sticky during the late summer monsoon season, but generally pretty acceptable.
Note: If I had a physical, outside job, I might feel a lot different about the weather. I've also always been a guy for whom "Room Temperature" in the house is most comfortable from 77-79 degrees. "Take your shirt off darlin', you'll be more comfortable!". LOL

I go back and forth with this all day. I really don't know. If we are just talking nature stuff I've always been partial to coastal Southern California though.

If money and residency weren't issues... A suburb north of Auckland, NZ. English + basic health care + liberalism + wildlife that isn't trying to kill you. Toggling between north/south hemispheres based on summer/winter would be nice too.

I haven't seen much discussion about proximity to good strip clubs. I'm fortunate that I happen to live near several excellent ones for mileage, girls, and value in greater Atlanta. But I don't dig the winter weather, so split my time with mongering in SFL and overseas.

I'd like to relocate, but it has to be in an area with good strip clubs, English-speaking, and year-round warm weather. That cuts back worldwide candidates significantly, even more so in the US, except for SFL and maybe Southern California (if including Hong kong).

Does anyone else have nearby strip clubs high on their relocation list?

At this point in time, I’m more motivated by certain other people more than things like scenery or political climate, especially as time moves forward and people keep aging.

The most unique area just for the town itself that stood out for me is the Portland OR area. It’s amazing how small business dominated that area is and how the culture there makes things friendly for small businesses to thrive. (For example, when parking lots are sparse, people might go to a surrounding nearby neighborhood behind the business and park in front of some random house—and the homeowner will not be frothing at the mouth). As a result big business chain places like Walmart are forced to be the smaller “neighborhood” kind.

I’m sure there’s plenty of smaller cities like 100-300k people that are a smaller scale of that kind of vibe and not as much of a pain to drive through due to all the bridges and unfortunate things like blatant poop in city parks and tent cities. So I’d probably pick Portland in a pinch but if this hypothetical scenario gives me time to research and plan, then I’d research other options. Sadly, some smaller places that I think would meet what I describe are also places I don’t want to be driving around in winter.

I would not want to leave Indianapolis because of my friends and family members living here but if I had to move I would like to go somewhere you have the same change of seasons you have here. I like the cyclical nature of the seasons along with the traditional holidays and activities associated with each season.

If money was no object, I would pick north San Diego area. But if money IS an object...(as IT IS big time)... I'm not sure.

There's a part of me that still wishes I could have stayed in the Twin Cities suburbs, as that was where I lived as a kid, but that will most likely never happen.

I looked into moving to the Kansas portion of the Kansas City area once and thought it would be a great area to live in. I had a potential job lined up, but I went in person for the interview and 5 minutes into the interview decided that was a mistake.

I loved Duluth the one time I was there, even though it's cold even in summer.

Boston actually. I love New England and would make 2.5x the money if I was up that way and able to go to every NE state to work more frequently. Right now I tour there once a month but it is a slog every time from VA.

I was blown away by San Diego when I visited. We were there 10 days, so small sample size, but life seems great there. Fit people (especially women), beautiful places, great weather, lots to do.

I’m in Las Vegas. When I came here over 20 years ago, this was an amazing place to live with its entertainment and business climate. Now, it’s a dying town that ruined itself. I’ll be out of here at the end of next year. I have no regrets moving here but truthfully I should have left 5 years ago. I see an island in the South Pacific in my future
