End of an Era: Why I’m Officially Retiring from the Strip Club

IvanB

2 wks ago · 1 min read

To my fellow TUSCL members,

It’s time to hang up the jersey. After a long run, I am officially declaring my retirement from the strip club scene. Last night was the final wake-up call.

What started as a casual night out turned into a full-blown double-header; hitting two different clubs in the city in a single night, staying straight through until closing, and dropping money on three separate VIP sessions. I spent way more than I ever intended, and waking up today with that lingering regret was the exact push I needed to step back for good. Beyond the wasted money, the reality of my life has changed. I’ve got a good woman waiting for me at home.

Continuing to go out, blow cash, and put myself in those situations isn't fair to her, and frankly, it's not fair to me either. I’m disrespecting my relationship and disrespecting my own goals every time I walk through those doors.

This simply isn't the man I want to be anymore.

The thrill isn't worth the hit to my bank account, and it definitely isn't worth risking a genuine, real relationship with someone who actually cares about me. The cash is staying in my wallet, my energy is going into my life at home, and my strip club days are officially in the rearview mirror.

It’s been a wild ride, but I’m done. Wish me luck on the retired life.

— Out for good.

There’s a time when you (or anyone for that matter) does something for pleasure/fun/hobby and one day it just doesn’t rock the boat anymore and you quit. Maybe not cold turkey but eventually you hang it up because the rate of return on the satisfaction meter goes down so much you don’t want to put the effort or money into it anymore.

For you it appears that you have too much guilt for doing something you appear to like. It’s either that or you just got genital warts from some suspect stripper pussy and don’t want to go through that again.

Does seem odd you’ve come to this revelation of having something good at home only AFTER going out on a club extravaganza.

But I guess better late than never.

Good luck on the retired life.

I sometimes feel like this after blowing big cash in the club, especially if the sex was disappointing. But I always seem to get over it and go back. So enjoy spending time with other pursuits but if you decide to come back out of retirement from time to time, it’s ok. You won’t be judged.

Understand your logic and congratulations! Best of luck to you as you move on with “real life”!

You've only written 3 reviews. Did you also join AA after only getting drunk 3 times?

@ilbbaicnl

Good point. Essentially a non-contributor making a big deal about their “retirement”.

@ww 3 reviews is not nothing. It just doesn't jive with being enough of a PL that it defines an era of your life.

It will be the end of an era if and when someone like Shadowcat, Sinclair, Wallanon, Muddy etc retire, not someone who's been a member here for half a year. This reminds me of the guy that started a thread on TUSCL legends and included himself on the list. You guys need some humble pie.

If you ever go to the club, and all the strippers are wearing black armbands, that means Muddy retired from clubbing.

When she breaks up with you, you will be back 100%

@sfrsox maybe but that's a different scenario

I decided I was going to retire from having girlfriends about 18 years ago after a couple bad experiences and do something else in my life. When doing that you need something providing new hobby ideas. We had a local alternative newspaper in Indianapolis that would do a "best of" poll where readers would vote on things related to Indianapolis yearly and I found that a good source. For example, they had the best local strip club category so I started visiting strip clubs. They had a best local pet store category so I got a cat at one. They had a best local coffee shop category so I started a coffee shop coffee drinking hobby. I liked them having that readers poll yearly.

Sometimes that ice-cold water of reality can hit a guy at just the right time and with just enough force to take a guy out of this hobby. Good luck, man, and I hope everything works out the best for you.

I haven't been this upset since the last time the McRib went off the menu...

In all seriousness, though, like @PhantomGeek said, best of luck to you for the future!

So my question is IvanB sincere, or is this someone who believes strip clubs are immoral trying to plant a brain worm that will make us all stop clubbing out of guilt?

@Rightfield

The answer to both is “no”

@Rightfield naw. Just posting this as a way to make sure I stick to it. At least while in a relationship

Kidding aside, I think it's setting yourself up for failure, (semi-)publicly hanging up the big Mission Accomplished banner. The battle with a temptation is unavoidably a forever war. It can't be won in a single battle. The core issues are cheating and bad $ discipline, not clubbing specifically.
Very, very few couples are completely honest with each other. It's a delusion and an anachronism how undisclosed side action is a uniquely bad type of dishonesty. So many people pull a Jekyll and Hyde, turn toxic once they have their hooks in somebody. Those are the ones who play the victim the most, if the actual victim got some side action.

@ilbbaicnl Very honest and very real take here man. But yet ppl fight the fight and do it successfully. Why not me?

@IvanB I'll give an unqualified +1 to financial discipline and thinking about consequences. But, just from your post, I could only say your decision is a good one if you're assessing the situation accurately. There are sad old guys who regret screwing up their marriage. There are also sad old guys who were not marriage material, or not with the right woman, but pissed away the years not wanting to confront a hard truth.

So which clubs did you go to? I am curious which clubs offered such a poor experience that you decided to hang it up for good.

What happened to the game I love? I feel the same way about the clubs sometimes. The lust is not for me currently. I go now to hang out and chat with the girls and just dip after.

It's not an airport. It's not necessary to announce your departure.
