1992 Canada Strip Club Distance Laws

I have 3 lives: Work, Dog Shows and Strip Clubs

I read a story today that stripping was/is degrading to women in Alberta, Canada. A distance of 1 meter from the stage to PLs was established for a "buffer zone." Sending paper tips to the stage was a problem so PLs used Canadian Dollar Coins and wound up pelting the strippers.

Was this true?

I wouldn’t be surprised.

I don’t know about the distance rules. But a well-liked former TUSCL member, FarmerArt (RIP), often mentioned tossing one- and two-dollar Canadian coins onto the stage or into the dancer’s coin cup. (Canada discontinued their one dollar ‘paper’ bills.)

FarmerArt also related that some Canadian dancers would lay down on the stage, spread eagle, and invite customers to attempt to bounce coins into their pussies.

Manitoba has similar laws regarding the three-foot/one-meter distance between PLs and dancers.

My last trip to Calgary and Edmonton, seems like that law is firmly still in place.

So nice of Government to tell people when they are being degraded and not letting people decide for themselves. So very fucking progressives. Ahh progressives, the malignant tumor on humanity.

So, it is less degrading for the dancers if the customers are kept at a distance and THROW 1 and 2 CAD coins at the dancer? Makes no sense to me.

Who is to blame for laws that attempt to restrict sexual between consenting adults? In some instances, it is the progressive feminists (seeking to protect women from making bad decisions?). But don't overlook the role of Christian Evangelists. They were instrumental in passing laws in the city of Detroit that greatly restricted physical contact at clubs within the city limit and led to the demise of a number of great clubs (Penthouse, Coliseum). Fortunately the clubs in the suburbs (e.g., Landing Strip, Flight Club, BT's) were not impacted by these restrictive policies.

It is also worth noting that Texas (traditionally a conservative state) recently passed a state law criminalizing solicitation. And Trump signed FOSTA and SESTA in 2018. The rationale for some of these laws was to protect minors from exploitation. I support that effort but the unintended side effect has been to insert government control in the private sex life of consenting adults.

My point is that we should focus on the issues (personal freedom and privacy issues), rather than blaming any one group. There are far too many people, often affiliated with a range of political and religious groups, who seem to be motivated to insert government regulation into the private sex life of consenting adults.

One of the reasons this country is fucked up beyond belief, with no chance of recovery, is the abject selfishness of every American. Personal freedom is just a bullshit, dishonest way of saying selfish.

Is it possible to advocate for personal freedom and the responsibility that comes with it, and still be kind, supportive and generous towards others. Why the false dichotomy?
