Current date/time 9/10 2:06pm est.
In less than 24 hrs it will be 24 years since that terrible event. I've told the story several times from my perspective of that day so I'm not going to repeat it.
Something I will repeat... NEVER FORGET!!!!
EVER!

last commentCrazy how far government will go to orchestrate such terror in order to push their agenda and gain more power through fear and vulnerability.

Amen OP. One thing I have noted is that 9/11 feels different in the northeast, than elsewhere. If you grew up in Framingham, MA, home of Staples, you knew people. Seeing the second plane hit on live television is a sight that will never go away. I also have a relative who survived 9/11 and the bombing by the Sheikh prior to that, strangely enough, partly due to the Red Sox.

I do accounting work for the army and back at the beginning of the century had a lot of soldiers working in my building. When I heard planes hit the world trade center I walked down to the cafeteria in the building to see what was being said on television. When I got there, there were around fifty grim faced soldiers already there watching it. They knew right then they might be heading overseas for a war.

I lived in the Omaha area and on 9/11, went driving towards Offutt AFB. Couldn't get anywhere close because of the massive police presence because Dubya was there. I have a brother who worked for Goodwill on the base at the time. I sometimes had to take him to work in my parents car and then just drive randomly around the base for a bit, but that died that day.

My cousin's wife was luckily married to my sports nut cousin, and they had tickets to the Red Sox Yankees in the Stadium for 9/10. It was the classic "raw" northeast fall evening, cold, rain, wind. They stayed cold, wet and miserable at my cousin's insistence until the game was officially called. She decided to sleep a bit later and go in late morning. She was exiting the subway when most of her co-workers were hit by the first plane. I dread calling her today. survivor's guilt is far more real than we're aware.

This anniversary always hits me hard. Being in the DC area, most of us knew someone who died or were once removed from someone. Having to scramble to pick up kids and not knowing if we were still being attacked or going to war. Then came the anger towards Al Quaida but also the wonderful coming together as a country. People even drove as if we were civilized. It was never easier to merge or change lanes on the highway. lol.
And we’re on EDT not EST. Sorry, pet peeve.
