It’s totally club dependent. There was often a line of guys at the door waiting for Follies to open at 11:30, and for good reason.

Around here it's the larger clubs with kitchen that have more active day shifts. The combination of cheap and good lunch specials, discounted booze, no cover charges and of course loose women seems to be a potent draw for the local retiree crowds. Guys will wile away the hours in these clubs enjoying cheap buckets of beer while spending time with their favorite dayshift dancers.

Which makes sense for these clubs. Obviously dayshift is not as profitable as night shifts, where everything is charged at full price, the potential crowds can be much larger and the house fees they charge the girls are much higher. But they need to staff the club and turn the lights on during the day anyway for food prep operations, accepting incoming deliveries and to accomplish a variety of other ministerial tasks. So they might as well run a dayshift. Even if it does nothing more than pay for their daytime staffing and other overhead expenses, they come out ahead.

I got to Oz early, recently, around 6PM. It was a fucking disaster. Most of the girls were fat and ugly, and the only two above a 7 were locked down with regulars. I'm beginning to think yes, overrated.

I generally prefer dayshift. I'm far from a retiree, but I'm also too fuckin old to be out into the wee hours of the morning. I prefer the quieter, more laid back atmosphere during the day. There are clubs where the day shift sucks, but there are plenty of clubs where it's as good or better. I'd bet at least some of the clubs in Pompano could operate 11am-8pm and still be profitable. I also prefer to do OTC during the day shift. Its much harder to find night shift girls who'll come over before work than it is to find day shift girls who'll come over instead of work.

What I don't understand are the places that don't seem to understand the concepts that Rick mentioned. Fixed costs are the bulk of their expenses, and a decent amount of variable costs are already being spent during the day. How they can't structure some sort of happy hour pricing that does enough to get people in the door and provide enough profit to make it worthwhile is beyond me. There must be some other factor I don't see, like maybe the neighboring area's aren't tolerant of the crowds during the day or something.

@Dolfan Much of what you and Rick are saying is common sense, but the real problem with dayshift clubs is the ones that succeed have girls that are willing to work the dayshift, for various reasons there seems to be a shortage of dayshift girls, that is the main reason many of the smaller Pompano clubs are either struggling, or have gone out of business. I suspect it's pretty similar in other markets, the older more established clubs seem to have girls to work all shifts, the smaller or newer clubs just struggle with acquiring talent.
