Kansas "Membership Clubs"??? Do you actually fill out a form??? lol

I'm not sure if this applies to any other states as well, but some Kansas clubs have "membership club" in the description. I realize that there may be some state/local laws/ordinances that make it beneficial for a club to operate as a "membership club", but for someone just passing through, would they need to fill out a form or something to actually go into any of these clubs for a night or two? My only experience with membership clubs are the kind where you stock up on things like toilet paper and granola bars! šŸ˜€

Yes, you fill out a form.

I believe it all comes down to Kansas's alcohol laws. Kansas is basically the birthplace of Prohibition and many parts of Kansas would like to keep it. One way around it is to have a drinking club, basically.

@DandyDan Ah...thanks for clarifying this! I was hoping it wouldn't actually be a form, but it makes sense that it would probably have to be to comply with the local laws. Too bad I can't get dances from Costco... šŸ˜‚

I filled out a form in Nebraska during the pandemic, to buy rolling papers.

There was a club in West Palm Beach area, call Mermaids. They had older dancers who had a full menu in small cubicles in the back for very reasonable prices. First visit, you had to put down "a name" on a form, no ID, and were given a card for future visits. Otherwise, it was business as usual.

I loved the Spermaid when it was newer. Dancers were ok and the cost was minimum wage.

I don’t know when it opened but they closed it down about 7-8 years ago.

Traveling all over the country over the years I’ve run into this ā€œmembershipā€ at a few clubs. Wasn’t sure if it was pure BS or something the club had to do to dance around local laws. How many times did I purchase a ā€œmembershipā€ for usually around $10 and was handed a card similar to a business card… and how many times did I throw that card away, just to return a month later needed to repurchase the same card again.

Chuck the evidence!!!

Boa noite, galera!
