Tijuana mayor urges commuters to record ‘extortionist cops’ at border crossing

Interesting info for those of you that drive into TJ. Another sign that they may actually be trying to control the "bandits with badges."

last commentGood in theory, but probably not a good idea to be caught recording them.

The TJ mayor is obviously trying to get people disappeared lol. Especially for you dudes who don't speak fluent Spanish, do not try to pull some public shaming shit on a Mexican cop.

Yeah great idea, they’ll take your money and then take your $1,000 iPhone too.

We need to start pooling money to send Antifa, BLM, ACAB, and Defund groups to Tijuana, so they can try and record the bandits with badges. The courts can do it and call it "community service."

Good idea, and while we're at it, let's send the Jan. 6 inbreds who tried to overthrow the government to TJ as well. Some of those toothless fucks undoubtedly have extensive jailsex experience.

Its safer to record cips in mexico than in the US. Most there see themselves as public servants. Vs thugs with guns and badges in the US

Icey youre trolling, or being racist. Mexican cops are less corrupt than US???
There are no cops stealing anything in the US unless you’re talking about some complex eminent domain cases.
You are basically living in opposite land.. you think cartel members are good people… dancers who rob and beat clients are good people.. and evil people to you are elderly rich white men or american cops

Oh yeah, you also claim ghetto scamming american dancers who charge 1k to 2k are good people but cubans and latinas who charge less are evil and ruining the hustle for everyone
I think what you do is hate on american men, and hate on foreign women. You probably think nazis were good people but Eastern European women are messed up, evil

I'm just back from TJ. I heard two things on this topic this weekend, and I'll offer my own anecdotal evidence:
.
'' From the HK shuttle driver, the program is working and there has been a big reduction in robberies by municipal police. He pointed out the spot on the bridge into Hong Kong where police were having checkpoints to stop tourists coming into the Zona. He says that's not happening anymore.
.
'' From ATF, that there were tons of "los ministeriales" in Tijuana now. Ministeriales are a type of fed in México that investigate serious crimes. Maybe like our FBI but not totally the same. Unfortunately ATF claimed that these ministeriales are even more corrupt than the local police and she was far from optimistic about the corruption with local police improving.
.
'*' My own observations: There are still municipal police about in Tijuana, I even saw them searching a car on two separate occasions. There seem to be slightly less in the Zona where I saw more policía estatal (State Police) than policía municipal. I also saw noticeably less of the ejército and guardia nacional. (I don't know if the later is a good thing - I feel like the Army / National Guard dudes are a hedge against corrupt police.)
.
My overall take is: there are reasons to be optimistic that police corruption is improving, but one should still take precautions.

I can confirm @RonJax2's report on the police stopping taxis and cars on the bridge. I rode in the HK shuttle en route to Rizo de Oro today, and noticed no police roadblocks. That's a positive development.

@OPlllini96- same here, didn’t notice any police roadblocks en route to the Zona this past Friday evening. Maybe that’s why TJ clubbing activity seemed quite decent ( finally ) 👍🏻
