Dow Jones Futures down 500 plus points in reaction to Trump's inflationary tariffs. Hedge Funds are now trading expecting a market crash due to Trump's tariffs.
Hopefully the markets will drop enough to be a kids-in-cages moment. Then JD will distract Donny Dementia with a strawberry ensure, long enough to grab his lease.
^ Wouldn't care either way. Canada can avoid all this if they just took some measures against fentanyl and illegal immigrants. It makes sense for them to do so. Trump can give them a _little_ something to salvage national pride, and it's all done.
BTW Marco Rubio just got Panama not to renew their canal deal with China. You might not like Trump's methods, but they work.
A manufactured trade war is fine by you. Got it. Trump's methods will work to crash our economy and skyrocket prices so billionaires can swoop in and make a killing while the rest of us feel huge negative affects.
Tariffs will make those incoming goods more expensive. Demand for those goods will decline as cheaper options are sought. Once Canada and Mexico see their revenues decline because of softening demand for their products, they'll play ball.
Putin also thought Ukraine would "play ball" and give him a victory at no cost.
Let's see how Trump can keep gas prices from rising with a 10% tax on the heavy grade Canadian oil that many US refineries require. He may not have the support of the ESV drivers for much longer.
The economic attack on our northern neighbor and long term ally is being widely criticized, from both sides of the political aisle. Along with the disrespect shown to Canada with the 51st state comments, Canadians are uniting in their resolve to push back.
A 500 point drop in the dow and the democrats feel urine dribbling down their legs. Fucking pussies, whiny little bitches and really fucking stupid. 500 points lol. Fags. Wah little bitches wah.
Exports from us to Canada are less than 2% of our GDP. Exports from Canada to US are over 20% of theirs. The Canadian economy has been left in shambles because of their ass-backwards Socialist leaders. Canadians have no money to afford Trudeau's retaliatory tariffs, and do not have the wiggle room to afford the drop in revenue from our tariffs on them.
Liberals can whine and cry and call Trump names all day, but the fact remains that the consequences of this election is tough leadership who is not afraid of a few bad headlines in exchange for America First. Let the libs fume. They lost, and all they can do is cry about it. Bitchy little brats.
So if Trump wants to make a point, let him use his own funds, he’s not, he’s using the savings and investments of many millions of middle class working people. This is not what he promised, he promised to reduce prices, not increase prices. But like I’ve been saying no surprises here, you folks elected a grifter, and that’s exactly what he’s doing, grifting and gaslighting you folks.
Again skibum the wimpiest tough talker of all time. Instead of admitting you voted for someone who lied and claimed he had nothing to do with Project 2025 and now all of it is being implemented. You were lied to your face and you still support him.
Imports from Canada and Mexico represent a very small fraction of the U.S. GDP. Besides, this won't go on for long. Canada and Mexico will buckle quickly and accede to Trump's border demands - they can't afford not to.
===> "Thanks to Trump, many Canadians now look at the US with disgust"
Who cares what the Canadians think about anything? We've been enabling their great social welfare experiment for many years by subsidizing their defense and artificially cheap drug prices. The very least that they can do is to cooperate with a call to help limit bad actors using their borders for nefarious purposes.
I hope this serves as a warning shot for Europe. Not only have we subsidized their welfare states in a manner similar to what we're doing for Canada, but we have also tolerated the various tariffs they already slap on our goods to protect their uncompetitive domestic industries.
For years the perpetual teenage children of Europe and Canada have looked upon the U.S, with an undeserved feeling of smug cultural superiority, even as we enabled this behavior in all the ways discussed. Now that Daddy U.S. is finally demanding that they behave like adults and accept some personal responsibility, the panicky shrill cries begin.
Too bad, but it's time for them to grow up a bit more. While they're doing so, maybe they'll also finally start to realize that firebombing their own energy independence and grids, via outlandishly unrealistic ESG mandates, is the very definition of childish stupidity.
@RD Mexico and Canada represent over 30% of our country’s imports, they are number 1,& 2 in a list of trade partners with China at about 10% at number 3
@25: Our imports yes. But a lot of the stuff we produce and consume is not imported or is comprised of only a small % of imported components. Many industries will also adapt by importing from different countries if needed. It is hardly the end of the world.
@RD It still hurts middle class Americans whipsaws their retirement savings and creates chaos in markets. This is a totally unnecessary problem for us to deal with and actually it appears that Trump has just halted tariffs for another month, he’s just not doing what he promised as usual. He’s more focused on being the center of attention than he is on doing the work he promised folks he would do. It’s no surprise to me, that a grifter is going to grift.
The booing of the American national anthem at NBA & NHL games is an example of impotence and powerlessness in the face of an overwhelming force. 25iq can describe how the Canadians feel, as he is equally impotent and powerless against me. Such a sad, little, weak man. If the Canuckleheads (and 25iq) truly wanted to display strength and independence from their perceived antagonists, they would boycott the NHL and NBA (and ignore me). Just like 25iq "quit" TUSCL for 3 hours, American culture is just too powerful and too attractive for Canuckleheads to stay away from. I can give them a pass on not being able to quit hockey, but they should at least be able to walk away from basketball.
A proportionate response would be to demand an official apology from Canadian teams for the abhorrent behavior of their fans before allowing them to play another game against an American team, or just cancel any games in Canada until such apology is issued. Until then, I look forward to seeing Maple Leaf flags burned in the street the next they play a game in the US.
You know, back in the day, Canadian comedian Ray Mercer did a little experiment.
He asked Canadians what they thought about America, and they all had an opinion. War, crime, guns, health care, all that.
Then he asked Americans what they thought about Canada, and they said "we don't think about Canada much."
@rick d's paragraph here sums it up well
"For years the perpetual teenage children of Europe and Canada have looked upon the U.S, with an undeserved feeling of smug cultural superiority, even as we enabled this behavior in all the ways discussed. Now that Daddy U.S. is finally demanding that they behave like adults and accept some personal responsibility, the panicky shrill cries begin."
I say one to go because Canada will fold, soon, and I hope China does not. We need a complete and total break with China. Only Trump - not Biden nor Kamala nor Haley or any of the rest- seems to understand that. But Mexico has complied and Canada will soon.
Metaphors and analogies are difficult for dementia sufferers to understand. Let me help you.
What RD had written, and PT quoted, is that the United States is the daddy. The United States had been providing the food, security, and subsidies for the EU to pander to their own ethnocentrism and ignore the realities of having to provide for themselves and be accountable and responsible for their own welfare and contributions the world order. Many would argue that "Daddy U.S." (still with me?) did act like an adult when they drummed the other demented old fart (not 25iq) out of the presidential race and voted against the DEI candidate in favor of a tough, abrasive, but effective, leader.
@25: A 400-500 point drop is barely a blip in the current market, lol. This was hardly market crashing news.
This also wasn't casual or random. We asked for their aid in helping to secure our vast shared borders with these two countries and they were reluctant to provide it. Cultural differences played a big role no doubt, as did the rampant corruption in Mexico. So a big stick was needed to make them respond.
As you noted, Mexico is already folding. Trump put it on pause with Mexico for a month after a 45 minute call with the Mexican President, where she, among other things, committed to sending 10,000 Mexican troops to help secure the border. No doubt negotiations over the next month will also result in other assistance, such as Mexico not allowing its country to function as an unfettered passageway for migrants heading to the U.S.
Canada may hold out for a little while based upon pure stubbornness and a misbegotten belief in their own cultural superiority, but before too long they will cave too. Sometimes a truly recalcitrant child needs a taste of the stick before it straightens out. Canada can't go long under those tariffs without plunging into a deep recession, which its leaders now all too well.
Oh, and Panama, too. They are exiting the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative and partnering with the US. How about the liberals just shut the fuck up already and see how this plays out?
Like Don Schlitz said: "There'll be time enough for counting cards when the dealing is done."
Trump shit his diaper more than usual when he saw the stock indexes dropping today. So he begged Mexico to take some minor, ineffective step, that his his idiot followers would be dumb enough to see as a big victory.
LOL Ilbb. 10,000 tropps is hardly nothing, especially when it's paired with other to be negotiated concessions, such as a return to remain in Mexico policies as well as limiting migrants from freely crossing Mexico from other countries.
@RD I never said anything about the market crashing what I said was this is a level of chaos that is completely unnecessary Even the Wall Street Journal called this the stupidest trade war ever.
If 10,000 soldiers was a cost-effective way to increase security at the border, Mexico would have done that a long time ago. To stop the flow of the guns, from the US into Mexico, that enable the drug cartels to exist.
I also read that WSJ article and couldn't stop thinking, "Does anyone really think that he actually wants to impose those tariffs?"
Too many people are reacting with blind emotion and not thinking this through. What he wants is leverage to negotiate what he really wants from each of these countries. He just needs them to understand that he'll actually do it if they do not comply.
Or else why would he be slow playing these tariffs for weeks? And why else would he finally announce the tariffs on Saturday but hold off until Tuesday to apply them? Because he wanted them to be scrambling to come up with a reason for him to hold off. Mexico has already done that and no doubt Canada won't be far behind. I also read that China is about to open up negotiations as well.
Seriously folks. First breathe and then think before going into shrill outrage. You're grown ass men FFS, lol.
@Ilb: You're discounting the corruption and political will elements. Guns are far from the only reason that drug cartels control about 1/3 of the country and they have the cash to get those guns from anywhere in the world.
@RD That’s not a nothing burger, riling everyone up, for the exact same results that already existed. It’s completely unnecessary and no legitimate conservative would ever go along with this nonsense.
^This is what is hilarious about the left. They are so stupid, that they take everything Trump says seriously. The tariffs, even the threat of tariffs, is a negotiating tactic. Using the military to take back the Panama Canal or Greenland, is a negotiating tactic. Making Canada the 51st state was part trolling, part negotiating tactic.
It is necessary, however, because the democrat party and DC bureaucracy has been asleep at the wheel and coasting along the status quo of America being treated unfairly by the world at large for far too long. Every legitimate conservative sees these negotiating tactics for what they are and recognize how successfully they are being executed and the immense benefits that all Americans- even democrat party voters- enjoy from them. No legitimate conservative would oppose Trump's effectiveness at executing America First. You wanted Trump to be successful. This is what it looks like. Why are you so angry about getting what you want?
Well, I don't know if I'd go as far as Gam in my fulsome embrace of shock and awe tactics. But as a classic conservative who has never voted for Trump in a Republican primary, I have to say that I'm definitely warming up to the results.
Mexico has already started rolling over with an offer of 10,000 troops and will no doubt complete its capitulation with additional commitments over the coming month.
Trudeau is scheduled to speak again with Trump at 3pm today and I'm guessing that he too will show Canada's belly in a way sufficient to convince Trump to hit the pause button.
Trump seems ready to give China a little more rope, but they are getting ready to come to the bargaining table too. China is a much more complicated animal as there are several issues in play, including Tik Tok, Taiwan and intellectual property rights. They are also less susceptible to tariff intimidations since its leaders don't need to win elections. But with that said, China is also experiencing economic problems right now, which they no doubt would like to keep from getting worse.
It's like his first term. he sounds crazy and makes outlandish pronouncements, but the result is most often balanced policy and the furtherance of rational goals. More of his Art of the Deal tactics, lol.
Every idiotic and outlandish thing trump does will be labeled as "4D Chess" by his useful idiot supporters NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES. Look at this website, for example. There are several pathetic and delusional right wingers here who follow the political posts around just to add comments displaying their complete deep-throating of trump's and Elon's boots. They don't care how cringeworthy it is, they don't care how much Americans will suffer as a consequence - they are completely dedicated to white-knighting for trump, for free, no compensation at all. And why the fuck does Elon Musk have access to the US TREASURY? That is inexcusable. But there are several posters here ready witj excuses for this. These same people will very gladly either get on their knees or bend over and spread their ass cheeks open for trump and his cronies. Again, it does not matter what he does or says. They are ready to let him jack off all over their faces.
^ Nina is a primary example of why I said: "Seriously folks. First breathe and then think before going into shrill outrage. You're grown ass men FFS, lol."
Except of course Nina is a woman, for which we are all grateful based upon the pics she used to share. 😉
But Nina, what precisely do you believe that he's done which is causing "Americans to suffer as a consequence?" Try to be rational and specific if possible, lol. In this instance, while I may find his tactics unseemly, his goals of slowing the tide of fentanyl coming into the country and protecting our interests against the Chinese don't seem like terribly bad ideas, at least to me.
Rick Trump could absolutely care less about anyone but himself and his billionaire friends. The vast majority of fentanyl comes from within our country so it's a manufactured problem for gullible Trump supporters and white male Trump supporters commit crimes at a much higher rate than illegal immigrants do. If you really think that Trump and Musk care about the common man at all you're delusional.
Rickdugan you're a prime example of exactly what I just said. Thanks for taking your hands off your ass cheeks for two seconds to address me, but why should I answer your question when you refuse to answer mine? Why has Elon been granted access to the US Treasury? I'm sure you came in your pants when you found that out, so can you riddle me why he should have access to it and how his access will help Americans? You're unironically asking why tariffs on Canada will lead to Americans suffering, so answer my question first before I give you a free education lesson.
^ Dusty, that's just another example of the ridiculous melodrama and hyperbole that I'm talking about. It's like you can't actually analyze and think for yourself, so you just regurgitate someone else's fluffy talking points.
Be a better man than that. Show some intellectual grit and emotional control.
To that end, if this is all just a show with no real purpose, then what's trump's end game? He can't run for re-election, so he has no need to "manufacture problems for gullible Trump supporters." So if he's not trying to stem the flows of illegal immigrants and drugs into the country, they why would he expend the energy to even bother with all of this?
It just makes no sense. And to be clear, the DEA very much disagrees with you conclusions about the source of fentanyl. Go read their most recent reports and you will see China and the artels as the main culprits - often with the Chinese producing it and the cartels bringing it in.
===> "Why has Elon been granted access to the US Treasury?"
My best guess is that Trump wanted an independent analysis of whether the Treasury was: (1) issuing payments in line with current Congressional budget authorizations; and (2) taking appropriate steps to identify potentially fraudulent payments.
It's hardly the first time that an outside audit has been conducted by an third-party on a government operation. Outside auditors and consultants are hired by Inspector Generals and others all the time for this purpose.
In this case, the federal payment system is so vast that Musk's organization is likely one of the few in the country that has the technological and human resources necessary to conduct a comprehensive analysis of its sprawling database. Musk's also has a team who already has top level security clearances through their work at SpaceX.
But of course you don't hear any of this from the shrill outrage posts by reactionary media. You'd think that they were giving him payment authority and control over the Treasury itself rather than just access to payment data, lmao.
Musk is an officer of and a major stock holder in a Federal Government contractor. What Trump is doing is as stupid as giving your lawn mowing company your bank password. If the CEO of you lawn mowing company believes the ideal family resembles a Nazi breeding farm.
Chuck Schumer says Trump fucked the Super Bowl because Corona beer will be more expensive. Did he forget there's like 50 other countries that make beer, all of them better than Corona? Damn, he's really running out of material.
If making other societies "show their belly" is a great foreign policy, why is the British Empire no more? Supplanted by a country that, till now, took a more cooperative, soft power approach. The Mexican government's resources are already strained in its struggle with the cartels. How is it smart to put more strain on it? To turn Mexico into another Lebanon? That will fire cheap rockets into the border areas out of sheer hatred, that we'll have to invade every few years?
Rick Trump has never cared about anyone but himself. It's so blatantly obvious that he is incapable of showing any empathy for anyone, plane crash victims, wildfire victims, hurricane victims. He uses it as an opportunity to blame and could absolutely care less about any of those people. He's just a horrible human being. He's not playing chess. He's just a total shithead.
@Ilb: Every outside audit and consulting firm ever hired to review a federal agency or operation is, by definition, a federal contractor. And how does giving them read-access to payment data equate to giving them unfettered access to the payment system?
Also, you're being ridiculous with your talk about Mexico now. The nonsense in the Middle East is fueled by religious extremism and the notion that Israel was always cautious about striking back. Nobody in their right minds would attack U.S. soil over a tough tariff negotiation.
@rd and yet Mexican cartels kill thousands of Americans every year already. How will acting as the enemy of the cartels' enemy, the Mexican government, improve that situation? It's not the Lebanese government that fires rockets into Israel. Arab hostility towards Israel use to be in the name of anti-colonialism. It predates militant Salafism by decades.
It's unclear what level of access DOGE has been given. There are indications they have more than just read access, that they can control whether payments happen or not.
OK dusty, now you're just babbling more hysterical nonsense. It's clear that you're so engulfed by Trump Derangement Syndrome that clear thought and analytical reasoning are beyond your grasp. It's a sad look on a grown ass man.
@rick - You can tell you've won the argument when the other side is reduced to "you're sucking Trump's dick and spreading your cheeks for him." Or threatening to beat someone's ass as an excuse to talk about how big, strong, and athletic you are.
Like Obama said once, their fever will eventually break. Psychotherapy and medication would be a more constructive approach, but I guess whining on the internet is a distant second.
Nothing hysterical about saying Trump has a pathological lack of empathy. No concern for the tens or hundreds of thousands in three countries who will loose their jobs in three countries. For likely no net benefit to the US. No empathy for illegal immigrants, whose law breaking is typically comparable to what Trump has been convicted of. Why shouldn't they get the same lenient treatment he got?
And Canada's belly has been exposed. Not so shockingly, Canada now also has a 30 day pause. As part of the agreement, Canada will put 10,000 frontline personnel on the border, appoint a fentanyl czar and list cartels as terrorists.
PT celebrates another triumph of pointlessness. Very nice of our neighbors to humor our demented grandpa President. Motivated by us letting demented grandpa hold a grenade with the pin pulled out.
Rick Trump could watch you die right in front of him and he wouldn't care at all. All Trump cares about is how that would affect him. He doesn't care one bit whether you live or die.
I'm waiting for Ilb or someone else to now tell us that the Canucks are going to ride near the border on snowmobiles and shoot missiles at Detroit and Buffalo.
After that of course, he'll go back to making asinine comments about how having 20,000 troops additional troops manning our northern and southern borders won't make any difference whatsoever in curbing the flow of illegal people and contraband into the country.
@ilbbaicnl - Yeah, empathy for illegal immigrants. Hell of a platform to run on. How's that empathy working in New York City and Chicago? Really, I hope you've got better than that.
20,000 troops on our border, a fentanyl czar. Undoing the damage from the Biden open border, it's almost like that wasn't intentional.
Don't worry; new DNC Vice Chair David Hogg will save you!
What's the score so far? Illegals being deported by the planeload. Illegal border crossings down 90%+. Hamas releasing hostages. Venezuela releasing hostages. DOJ releasing political prisoners. China returning to Phase 1 plan from 2018. Canada playing ball. Mexico playing ball. Panama playing ball. SecState Rubio. SecDef Hegseth. Bondi looking likely, RFKJ and Tulsi TBD. If I were the Danes, I would start teaching "The Star-Spangled Banner" to schoolchildren in Greenland.
===> "Rick Trump could watch you die right in front of him and he wouldn't care at all."
Dusty, why would I expect him to? I didn't vote for him for the jackass feel good nonsense. I voted for him to implement common sense policies and to stop the ESG/DEI nonsense that was quietly being forced down our throats through the schools and various regulatory agencies. Thus far he has delivered.
When you vote for people who rub your balls and tell you that they like you, all while lying about the impacts of policies that they intend to promote, shit shows like California are what you get. Ruined budgets, cities wracked with crime, failing urban school systems, and dysfunction in almost every level of government, from local municipalities to state offices. And now, affluent people who have had enough fleeing for better places, making the budget situations increasingly worse.
Idiots are impressed that demented grandpa got a record-breaking 20,000 strong group air dance by waving the grenade with the pin pulled. W got free extras from Canada, just by being nice, they sent troops to fight alongside ours in Afghanistan.
"Air dance" is an insult and an opinion, not an argument.
You're swinging blindly. Empathy? We voted for a president, not a best friend. Empathy for illegal immigrants? We've given them far too much and are reaping the rewards.
I don't think you want to cite W as an example of foreign policy.
What’s the reason the MAGA crowd can’t stand any other opinion except their own, you cult folks don’t have to agree with it, but as far as I know we’re still in America, and Trump is only a mere President not yet a king. The day that we don’t have the right to speak our mind and disagree with y’all is the day that this country collapses. Myself I don’t agree with you but unlike the majority of you fellas, I did fight to protect your right to be wrong.
^ Y'all get so triggered every single time someone voices an opinion different from your own, then the insults start flying, it’s obvious that you folks have major issues. Just to point out facts derr herr the way you leap to defend Trump it’s actually comically tragic.
^ Pot calling kettle. If you want to see triggered, look no further than Nina's fascination with having oral and anal sex with Trump. The conservatives here are staying measured.
LOL! You did not fight to protect any American rights, and you know it. You can take that line of bullshit and shove it right up your ass.
No one is saying you cannot disagree with us. We are sayng that we will not accept lies and bullshit with no factual basis that are intended only to demean, insult, and obfuscate. If you want comedy, read through your own comments and those of your cadre with a critical eye. You guys are completely disconnected from reality, even worse than you were five years ago.
I haven’t said any of that, but I not only disagree with your opinion I don’t like Trump he’s not fit to govern, that’s even the opinion of Mitch McConnell, a man who has been in service to this country since before you were born. The man hasn’t been president for two weeks and his polling numbers have dropped by more than 8 percentage points, so it ain’t just me buddy.
^ I get it, you don't like Trump. You are completely one-sided in judging who's "triggered." Nina, Ilb, and Dusty are the ones spouting poor-me cope nonsense, but you're moving up the league tables.
^ That would be YOU, gramps. Nina still wins the gold medal for her talk of sucking Trump's dick and spreading her ass for him, but you're moving up the charts. Trump's kicking ass and you're just whining on a strip club message board. Cope harder ;)
===> "^ Y'all get so triggered every single time someone voices an opinion different from your own, then the insults start flying, it’s obvious that you folks have major issues."
25, I can only speak for myself, but I am more than open to hearing the other side of an argument. Truth be told, I still detest Trump and probably always will. I had to hold my nose every time I voted for him.
But look at the drama queen nonsense being posted by the opposing side in this thread. It's almost nothing but melodramatic hyperbole about the Orange Bad Man and how he only cares about himself and really just wants to hurt people. There's no reasoning with that or exchanging thoughtful ideas. Even worse is watching grown men do it in shrill posts. Tbh it's very difficult to take anyone seriously who can't do better than that.
Tbh not only do I detest Trump, but I normally detest tariffs too. It's a form of protectionism that almost always has negative consequences. The only reason I felt differently this time is because it was all too obvious that this was really about leverage, not tariffs. Even if they had gone into place, I was certain that they wouldn't last long.
America first. The rest of the world can go fuck themselves. If anyone thinks we need them more than they need us, you're an idiot and a pussy. Fuck 'em all. Especially Canada.
@rd I mean I could also assume that Trump secretly wrote all of Taylor Swifts songs. But I don't see the use of assuming things that are very unlikely. The likely thing is that Trump's (very capable) Chief of Staff (unsurprisingly found by DeSantis) saw what the stock indexes were doing, and told Trump it was time to stop the horseplay. No way of knowing for sure who came up with the 10K troop face-saving air dance thing.
I like Nina. She tells it like it is. Trump and Musk are testing the waters to see what they can get away with. They want to be dictators and abuse power and there are a lot of gigantic losers kissing their asses.
What nobody is getting is Trump can’t change the laws of economics, tariffs can get out of hand quickly, all it takes is a little miscalculation by one of the parties involved in this mess and we’ve got a full fledged recession maybe even a depression. Playing with fire is a bad idea, and a good way to get burned. This is becoming a game of chicken, at some point the most vulnerable folks will be forced into a battle they have no desire to fight. There’s a reason presidents need advisors, despite Trumps narcissistic personality disorder, he doesn’t know everything and that’s where the problem lies.
@PT a President with no empathy would be tolerable, but not when combined with a level of stupidity that prevents fully understand enlightened self-interest.
Looks like Trump didn't get anything new out of Canada today. They had already announced their 1.3B plan (which I give Trump credit for) back in December. Today they just provided more details how the money will be spent.
Canada's united show of force with their counter-tariff plan, Trump's stupidity, or both, enabled the outcome today.
^^ MSNBC's Mehdi Hassan and Bluesky (aka X for snowflakes), bless your heart. Of course, you need assumptions on top of assumptions; it's a Schrodinger's Cat scenario where Trump has to be both a total moron and an evil genius at the same time.
I don't agree with everything Trump is doing, like his freezing of NIH and PEPFAR spending, but he's doing a lot more right than wrong right now, including on things that Democrats said was impossible (like securing the border) or actively opposed.
Oh and @ilbbaicnl do you really think Trump can get world leaders on the phone and hash out a bargain in between market open and 3pm???
All this impotent rage. Trump is getting things done and there isn't a thing you can do to stop it.
Did you know that there was a 77% decline in migrant encounters at the border between December of 2023 and December of 2024? There is no issue with securing the border.
^ Decline off of a baseline of what? The highly, highly elevated numbers from the Biden border. Which, by the way, more than doubled within 3 months of when Biden took office.
It's almost like Biden _wanted_ illegals in America, only to finally institute some half-measures when it threatened the election.
Now, encounters are down even further. Trump is doing the bidding of the American people!
According to Fox News the border is bad. In reality it isn't. The immigrants around me are nice people. I'd take them all day for neighbors over white Trump supporters.
Yes talking about tariffs that are never imposed. A triumph every idiot can marvel at. It's easy to come up with pointless bullshit quickly. Faster than deciding what to order at The Cheesecake Factory. And, sure, it's purely coincidence the tariffs were delayed from Saturday to the first day after the stock exchanges were open. BTW PT I've got a bridge that goes to Brooklyn that I could let you have real cheap.
Yes, it's a very plausible hypothesis Biden thought the US economy needed all those people motivated to work hard, low-paying jobs. We probably did need many of them. Many more may have been let in because most of the elite supports the Democrat Party, and they want those jobs to stay low paying. It's beyond stupid that the Biden Administration thought they could let them in, without building broad political support among the public for doing so.
Dustyj is a perfect example of the old saying: "People don't lie, statistics do". To a liberal if a million people a day go over the border and then it goes down to 250,000k its a success. To anyone with a brain it is an abject failure. I'd take the immigrants around me over Trump supporters says it all. Hey asshole, do you make them use lube when they whisper wet enchiladas in your ear as they ass fuck you bitch? What a fucking loser.
Once again skibum is a giant pussy in reality talking tough. Can you do 5 push ups skibum? Minneapolis has one of the largest Somalian and Hmong populations in the country. I've had them as co workers, played basketball and card games with them. Really nice people. White Trump supporters can fall off the face of the earth for all I care. I'd take them as neighbors all day over white Trump supporters.
^Hey stupid, take reading comprehension lessons. I ski fuckwad. You'd be done carrying your gear from the parking lot to the slopes. Somalis? Yeah, the black hawk down people be wonderful...if you're an asshole. Auburn/Lewiston Maine has a large Somali population. Big fucking deal. Just foreigners who don't belong here. Only asswipes cite race. You are an asswipe and stupid.
Skibum the wimpiest tough guy in history. Not everyone wants gigantic losers white Trump supporters as their neighbors. I don't. The immigrants are humble people. Trump supporters are arrogant despite the typical Trump supporter being obese and poorly educated. Look at a Trump rally. All you see is white ignorance.
Immigrants are humble people? Except for the rapists, murderers, drunks and drug dealers. Trump supporters are obese and poorly educated? They must get nutritional advice from Obese Michelle Obama and educated by senile Joe Biden. If white people are stupid and at the top of the food chain ......... lol. Such a schmuck.
Immigrants aren't racists and murderers skibum. Yes Trump supporters are poorly educated. I've had Trumpers argue with me on other platforms and many of them can barely spell. Many can barely spell.
^Given your love for fake statistics, they seem far smarter than you. We've had 5 real citizens get killed here in the last 18 months by illegals driving drunk, who would have been deported if we were a real country of patriots. Legal immigrants are acceptable. Not one legal can stay. End of story.
Why do you think Trump wants to get rid of the Department of Education? Only the poorly educated would be foolish enough to support him in large numbers. How many school shooters are white vs immigrants? How many people in the church are rapists vs immigrants?
FACT: Urban school districts have voted democrat for several decades. FACT: It is known fact that urban school districts have the poorest graduation rates, grade-equivalency levels, and education outcomes. FACT: Urban school districts receive more federal DoE money than their suburban and rural counterparts.
CONCLUSION: The worst-educated of our nation have voted for Kamala, Joe, Hillary, and Barry Hussein. The DoE is either failing miserably and serves no real purpose or (more likely) exists to keep these folks stupid, impoverished, and dependent on the government to ensure generations of enslaved democrat party base voters.
^Agree! Poor people in our big cities vote for Democrats. In Philadelphia, where I work, it’s about 90% of black voters are super-loyal Democrats. The public schools in Philly are the worst. I would send my dog to one. I always shake my head when someone says Trump voters are poorly educated. Come to Democratic bastion Philly and experience some of the ignorant and stupid people I deal with everyday.
===> "@rd I mean I could also assume that Trump secretly wrote all of Taylor Swifts songs. But I don't see the use of assuming things that are very unlikely."
That's because your lack of emotional control is making you stupid. It's robbing you of any whiff of critical thought.
Trump was in ongoing contact with both of these leaders even before his inauguration. I'm sure you must have read about this given how much the press was whining about Trump interacting with world leaders before he was actually President. Heck Trudeau even flew to Mar-a-lago to meet with Trump in person.
WTF do you think he was talking about with Trudeau and Sheinbaum, the weather?
The problem is that both Trudeau and Sheinbaum are from leftist parties that don't support this type of border enforcement. They were no doubt resistant to these proposals. Sheinbaum has also been cautious about head-on confrontation with the cartels, which doesn't help.
So they held out, no doubt believing that Trump would never actually go through with it. Oops, lol. Only when faced with the choice of angering people in their own parties or watching their economies collapse did they bite the bullet and accede to Trump's requests.
@rd Trudeau only went to see Florida Man after the not-nice threat of tariffs. Reneging on the USMCA accord that Trump signed. Par for the course for President Fuck You Sue Me.
===> "Look up the stats of college educated voters for Trump vs Harris. Which one is more educated? Take a guess."
Stupid comes in all forms dusty. There are a fuck ton of college graduates out there with useless degrees who accomplished little other than to engage in 4 years of feel good nonsense while lapping up social agenda indoctrination.
Again we have the stupidity of the left touting the Department of Education. We were on top of the stats worldwide prior to the creation of the Department of Education and since its' creation have fallen like a stone. The dumbest and least educated groups in America form the democratic party base. I do agree that the more you love Trump, the less well-educated you probably are. I vote Trump because the one party in America that doesn't want us to fail nominated him.
The ignorance about basic economics is stunning. We have the advantage in a tariff war. The U.S. is an importer more than an exporter. China depends on exports to the U.S. to support their economy. Without U.S. exports their economy would collapse. By comparison, our exports to China are inconsequential for our economy.
Export tariffs are rarely useful. They're only for strategic raw materials that should be conserved for domestic use. Import tariffs should be used to protect strategic industries that should be under domestic jurisdiction. Like the production of medical supplies you need more of during a pandemic. Import tariffs should also be used to prevent to use of trade as an end run around legal protections for workers and the environment. I never thought unconditional free trade with Mexico was a good idea. Smart free trade is what exists in the EU, with alignment of policies to create a level playing field for market competition.
So having a higher percentage of college educated voters vote for Harris vs Trump makes Democrats less educated. Got it. Justify it however you want, many Trumpers are highly uninformed.
^ I am sure everyone who voted for Kamala is really using their women's studies and art history degrees to resounding financial successes. You're just a numbers spoiting, misinformed, ignorant drone.
The US balance of payments deficit is under a half a percent of GDP. Since the US dollar is the world reserve currency, this small outflow is to be expected. It allows other countries to maintain the real value of their reserves, as the US money supply expands. If dollar reserves don't maintain their real value, that motivates the world to drop the dollar as the reserve currency. Which would mean a big loss of soft power for the US.
Foreign investment in the US contributes to the healthy balance of payments. You just have to watch out for foreign investment manipulating the US economy to make it strategically weaker.
Skibum is clearly racist as fuck with his fear of immigrants. Where is the concern for all of the white school shooters and just random shooters? How many of those are immigrants? He mentions rapists, you do realize Trump is a rapist right?
Sorry douchebag but in Boston the illegal fucking scum coming here that I grew up with came from Ireland, Russia and the Slavic countries. So fucking stupid aren't you boy? Trump is not a rapist and yes, you are a semen stain on a dirty mattress. Wah, racism. Those who cry racist are merely admitting that they are wrong.
^ "A Haitian man who was in the U.S. illegally yelled “Biden forever” as he was arrested by federal immigration agents this week, according to a Fox News report published Thursday.
The man, whom Fox News reports is a gang member with 17 recent criminal convictions, made the remarks while he was loaded into the back of a police vehicle in Boston.
“F**k Trump! You feel me? Yo, Biden forever, bro!” the man said. “Thank Obama for everything that he did for me, bro!”"
^ Tough talking? Wait, you not only said you could destroy me in 10 seconds, you're trash talking Skibum on pushups! Maybe when you come here to beat my ass and destroy me at basketball or something you and Skibum can have a pushup contest.
I think we've finally found who has the smallest penis on TUSCL!
This is a good opportunity to illustrate how these liberals willingly ignore the truth, outright lie, or remain stunningly ignorant when discussing the 47th presidency of the United States. dustynuts said Trump is a racist. It has been settled in a court of law that to call Trump a racist is a maliciously false and defamatory statement. Clearly stated, Trump is factually not a racist, and can sue your ass if you say he is.
So, my question is: is dustynuts knowingly lying to us, denying the authority of the courts, or is he uneducated about the facts because he is one of the dozens of people who still watch CNN and MSNBC?
DustyJ is a faggot. At no time have I threatened anyone or claimed that I am a tough guy. Its an age thing. We weren't brought up to piss down our leg if someone insulted us. Words don't matter to us the way every word means everything on earth to every weakling called a young male. I don't start fights. I don't shut up either. I let others make the call. Been that way since 1968.
@gammy that suit was settled out of court. It's Trump's new way of getting bribes from companies the Federal government regulates. He brings bogus suits that would be laughed out of court. The sued company gives him a bribe as a settlement, making it technically legal.
Wrong again, ill lib. The finding specifically states that ABC's assertation that Trump is a rapist was 100% factually false. Just give it up, the facts are against you, the law is against you, and on your best day you will never be half as good as me on my worst. https://www.foxnews.com/media/george-ste…
^^ I remember nina once bragging, in perfect woke diction, that she "considers [herself] an ally to the LGBTAQIA+ community". Here she is, insulting someone she has chosen to define as part of that community. Perfectly distilled liberal hypocrisy.
>So they held out, no doubt believing that Trump would never actually go through with it.
@rick not in the case of Canada, that border has been under control. And they announced a 1.3B plan in December to do even more. There was no reason for Trump to threaten Canada with 25% tariffs.
Gammster, my verbatim remark about the bisexual in question was this:
"there are a plethora of things to insult you over, obviously, and the fact that you are bisexual is not one of them. Since I'm a Libtard, of course, I support your right to fuck other men."
That is what I said. Simply pointing out that someone is bisexual is not an insult itself. Especially since this bisexual man is open about swinging. Who am I to judge? He spends their joint marital money on ethnic strippers, and she spends her portion of it on getting constantly railed by BBC. So what if he wants her to share some of that BBC? His life.
@gammy What finding? It was an out-of-court settlement.
A jury concluded there was a preponderance of the evidence that Trump inserted something into someone's vagina without their consent. It's reasonable to call that rape. Even though it's technically considered only sexual assault under New York State law, unless it's clear the something was a assailant's penis.
Trump isn't a rapist? Would you allow Trump to babysit your 13 year old daughter? Fuck no! How about would you trust him to pay you $50,000 he owed you in a business deal? Fuck no! You know you'd get stiffed.
Derangement huh? Again would you trust Trump in a business deal to pay you a large sum of money that he owes you? Fuck no! You know he'd stiff you just like he did with everyone he did business with. It's hard to believe that a president would get into office to sell his stupid shit to people. It's almost harder to believe that anyone would be dumb enough to buy any of Trump's stupid shit. Do you guys buys his bibles and shoes and all that bullshit?
Canada has decided to take billions in business that they would have done with us and are now doing that business with China over this tariff debacle which made them lose trust and not want to do business with us. Do you call that winning?
You know that other countries are now boycotting buying American products now because they fucking hate Trump. Not just Canada and Mexico either. Numerous countries are purposely boycotting American products now over this bullshit.

BTW Marco Rubio just got Panama not to renew their canal deal with China. You might not like Trump's methods, but they work.
Trump's methods are getting results; this will be the same.
"Deal from strength or get crushed every time."
That’s not liberal that’s factual.
Let's see how Trump can keep gas prices from rising with a 10% tax on the heavy grade Canadian oil that many US refineries require. He may not have the support of the ESV drivers for much longer.
Trump is a complete embarrassment
Liberals can whine and cry and call Trump names all day, but the fact remains that the consequences of this election is tough leadership who is not afraid of a few bad headlines in exchange for America First. Let the libs fume. They lost, and all they can do is cry about it. Bitchy little brats.
This is not what he promised, he promised to reduce prices, not increase prices.
But like I’ve been saying no surprises here, you folks elected a grifter, and that’s exactly what he’s doing, grifting and gaslighting you folks.
That’s kind of juvenile pettiness. Let the NBA and NHL pull the Raptors out of Toronto or the Habs from Montreal and see if the fans like that.
Wimpiest tough talker award goes to gayman, undoubtedly the stupidest person on this board.
Skibum occasionally displays a sharp sense of humor, I’m not so sure that he really means anything that he says
Thanks to Trump, many Canadians now look at the US with disgust
We'll see how this shakes out.
Imports from Canada and Mexico represent a very small fraction of the U.S. GDP. Besides, this won't go on for long. Canada and Mexico will buckle quickly and accede to Trump's border demands - they can't afford not to.
Mexico and Canada represent over 30% of our country’s imports, they are number 1,& 2 in a list of trade partners with China at about 10% at number 3
It still hurts middle class Americans whipsaws their retirement savings and creates chaos in markets.

You are welcome!
Like Don Schlitz said: "There'll be time enough for counting cards when the dealing is done."
Keep taking the rage bait, bro.
I never said anything about the market crashing what I said was this is a level of chaos that is completely unnecessary
Even the Wall Street Journal called this the stupidest trade war ever.
That’s not a nothing burger, riling everyone up, for the exact same results that already existed. It’s completely unnecessary and no legitimate conservative would ever go along with this nonsense.
Weirdo
OK, your turn.
Also, you're being ridiculous with your talk about Mexico now. The nonsense in the Middle East is fueled by religious extremism and the notion that Israel was always cautious about striking back. Nobody in their right minds would attack U.S. soil over a tough tariff negotiation.
Like Obama said once, their fever will eventually break. Psychotherapy and medication would be a more constructive approach, but I guess whining on the internet is a distant second.
Oh, and DOGE has no official authority.
Makes all the libs here look like PMSing fools.
After that of course, he'll go back to making asinine comments about how having 20,000 troops additional troops manning our northern and southern borders won't make any difference whatsoever in curbing the flow of illegal people and contraband into the country.
Good times here on tuscl. ;)
20,000 troops on our border, a fentanyl czar. Undoing the damage from the Biden open border, it's almost like that wasn't intentional.
Don't worry; new DNC Vice Chair David Hogg will save you!

Here's one of the people you made smell the glove: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U622DUyt… . Very sad, what weird shit makes MAGA types jiz themselves.
You're swinging blindly. Empathy? We voted for a president, not a best friend. Empathy for illegal immigrants? We've given them far too much and are reaping the rewards.
I don't think you want to cite W as an example of foreign policy.
Myself I don’t agree with you but unlike the majority of you fellas, I did fight to protect your right to be wrong.
Just to point out facts derr herr the way you leap to defend Trump it’s actually comically tragic.
Censorship is of the left these days.
The man hasn’t been president for two weeks and his polling numbers have dropped by more than 8 percentage points, so it ain’t just me buddy.
Trump's approval looks fine.

I’m completely one sided, and you are open minded, like a leaking rowboat
Really LOL
Nina still wins the gold medal for her talk of sucking Trump's dick and spreading her ass for him, but you're moving up the charts.
Trump's kicking ass and you're just whining on a strip club message board.
Cope harder ;)
This is becoming a game of chicken, at some point the most vulnerable folks will be forced into a battle they have no desire to fight. There’s a reason presidents need advisors, despite Trumps narcissistic personality disorder, he doesn’t know everything and that’s where the problem lies.
Canada's united show of force with their counter-tariff plan, Trump's stupidity, or both, enabled the outcome today.
'Folding like a bad poker player': Critics say Trump 'got played' by Trudeau
https://www.newsbreak.com/raw-story-2096…
I don't agree with everything Trump is doing, like his freezing of NIH and PEPFAR spending, but he's doing a lot more right than wrong right now, including on things that Democrats said was impossible (like securing the border) or actively opposed.
Oh and @ilbbaicnl do you really think Trump can get world leaders on the phone and hash out a bargain in between market open and 3pm???
All this impotent rage. Trump is getting things done and there isn't a thing you can do to stop it.
It's almost like Biden _wanted_ illegals in America, only to finally institute some half-measures when it threatened the election.
Now, encounters are down even further. Trump is doing the bidding of the American people!
