I have never exchanged dollars and used pesos. Yet as Jaybud was saying maybe time to use pesos. At 18 to 1 at HK vs almost 21 to 1 should I consider?
If I do the math correctly, it will save $0.80 difference in a $6.00 dude beer or about $1.50 each $11 lady drink. So for a night of I buy 8 each, that would save $6.40 + $12, so about $18 for the night. Not sure if it is worth exchanging and using a currency I'm not used to in the club and basically lose $18 for the convenience. Yet one probably could save even more with using pesos at that rate at the restaurants and Oxxo for your drink runs. What do you guys think?

The exchange rate at the Cambios in San Ysidro is just over 20. and TJ it's about 19.9.

My regular bar girl always wants $ in pesos, She says she ends up exchanging US $ into pesos anyways . I pay the escorts I see down there in pesos too... With the exchange as it has been lately I don't mind paying in pesos. My biggest gripe has been when it was a 20 to 1 ratio 2 years ago the arriba rate was $100. When the exchange dropped to 16 or 17 to 1 the arribas went up to $120 Us to account for the drop in exchange. So in my mind the rate for arribas should be $2,000 peso's.
You're right but most of the girls in Hong Kong now want 120 dollars us up to $150 now.
With President Trump slapping a 25% tariff on Mexico tomorrow, I gotta wonder if the drink prices are gonna go up next week.

as to pesos... You got to do the math like you posted to see if it's worthwhile. and make sure of the rate that they are honoring because they do change it at times. Once in one week I saw them change it twice. But that was unusual. problem I've run into a number of times is that they don't have enough pesos as change to work with beyond the ocasional drink.
And when you do go to a Cambio to get pesos make sure that it is a 'no commission' place. and count your pesos in front of them at the exchange window to make sure they didn't make a mistake.
Peso it is.
