Sad to lose him, he was a good man, a Hall of Famer, won a World Series championship ring playing for the Cardinals, was only a .200 lifetime hitter but he notably hit home runs off Sandy Koufax, Gaylord Perry, & Ferguson Jenkins He was an announcer for the Atlanta Braves for two years, before returning home to Milwaukee as their announcer, he was honored by having a statue placed by the Brewers, and inducted to their ring of honor R. I. P. Bob Ueker, hopefully he’s playing for the home team in heaven.
^ copy and paste I see is your friend. Just read this verbatim from an article on line. Regardless, I met him 30 years ago at a family function as I was dating his niece. He was the same person in real life as he was in the media.

"I remember one time I'm batting against the Dodgers in Milwaukee. They lead, 2 –1, it's the bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, two out and the pitcher has a full count on me. I look over to the Dodger dugout and they're all in street clothes." - Uecker via A-Z Quotes.
"I knew when my career was over. In 1965 my baseball card came out with no picture." - Uecker in If These Walls Could Talk: Milwaukee Brewers: Stories from the Milwaukee Brewers Dugout, Locker Room, and Press Box by Bill Schroeder and Drew Olson.
"I think my top salary was maybe in 1966. I made $17,000 and 11 of that came from selling other players' equipment." - Uecker in If These Walls Could Talk.
"The way to catch a knuckleball is to wait until it stops rolling and then pick it up." - Uecker in If These Walls Could Talk.
"If a guy hits .300 every year, what does he have to look forward to? I always tried to stay around .190, with three or four RBI. And I tried to get them all in September. That way I always had something to talk about during the winter." - Uecker in If These Walls Could Talk.
"Juuuuuuuuuust a bit outside. Ball four. Ball eight!" - Uecker in Major League.
"I led the league in go get 'em next time." - Uecker in If These Walls Could Talk.
"I spent three of the best years of my life in 10th grade." - Uecker via A-Z Quotes.
"I hope the fans have enjoyed listening as much as I've enjoyed doing the games. I don't ever go to the park where I don't have a good day. I don't like losing. But I don't think I ever go to the park where I have a bad day. I don't think once." - Uecker via A-Z Quotes.
"I set records that will never be equaled. In fact, I hope 90% of them don't even get printed." - Uecker via A-Z Quotes.
The guy had one of the sharpest wits in sports broadcasting. From A-Z Quotes: The biggest thrill a ballplayer can have is when your son takes after you. That happened when my Bobby was in his championship Little League game. He really showed me something. Struck out three times. Made an error that lost the game. Parents were throwing things at our car and swearing at us as we drove off. Gosh, I was proud.

Baseball hasn't forgotten me. I go to a lot of old-timers games and I haven't lost a thing. I sit in the bullpen and let people throw things at me. Just like old times.
Bob Uecker
He was more than just a sports figure. He was also on a t.v. show called Mr. Belvedere. It ran for 122 episodes over 6 years.
He undoubtedly achieved more fame post his playing career. As an announcer, actor, and very frequent guest on Johnny Carson.
He was great in “Major League”
He also appeared in the movie "Major League"
This sucks I've been dreading this day for a while. Bob Ueker was pretty much the last of the old school announcers. When you go to a brewers game, he did the TV, home games the last few years they blast that tv feed throughout the stadium. So you really heard him at a game, no other announcer is getting that kind of love.
Hilarious dude though. Check is HOF speech back in 2003, legendary youtube.com
yaraC yrraH is my all time favorite sportscaster, owed to being a life long Cubs fan.
"A couple of grand slams and we're right back in this one!"
Favorite line of his is “he missed the tag! He missed the tag!” In the miller lite commercial
here's a story of ueker using the cough/mute button while doing the play by play:
Tom Hanks famously said "There's no crying in baseball" and that's usually true, but not when a true legend like Bob Ueker passes away.
May the one and only Mr. Baseball forever Reast in Peace.
I can't find it again now, but earlier today I saw a link to the ending of what turned out to be his last call for a Brewer game. It was a playoff game, and the Brewers took a lead over the Mets into the 9th inning. But the Brewers lost, ending their season. Bittersweet moment, as he closes with "This one had some sting to it".
He definitely said some zingers...
“Just a bit outside.” One of the funniest lines in a sports movie and could only be delivered to full comic effect by a sports caster and baseball guy like Bob. Used it a million times playing in softball beer leagues.
