Translator earbuds

I’ve seen these advertised a few places on social media and sites like Amazon. Wondering if any mongers out there have tried these either at the clubs or outside the club when you’re with a lady that has a little bit more challenges with her English. @ronjax2 and I discussed this briefly during our last trip and wondering if they’d be worth the purchase. Obviously nothing is better than being able to speak the same language however in times where you may be with a Chica who speaks mostly Spanish and very quickly it might be worth a try.

Here's a question, would you purchase two sets, one for her and one for you?

I feel like it would not add much to the interaction if you could understand her but not the other way around.

The hardest part IMHO is the production skills: speaking and writing, but especially speaking. (Pic related)

@ronjax funny you should ask- they actually have some where each of you wear one and translates real time. Toying with the idea of reviewing a pair on my upcoming trip as a chica you know :) converses pretty quickly. I will however continue to practice mi espanol and utilize ChatGPT to bone up on specific scenarios
I've heard good things about these devices from a friend who owns a GC business and deals with many Spanish speakers.

I'd be particularly curious how it navigates explicit language. @PutaTester reported in a recent review that it didn't repeat words like "fuck" or "blowjob".

So it might be limited as far as an arriba is concerned, but I suspect it's great for hanging out over dinner or a ficha.

Dude, I think you should try it out and report back!

The newer Galaxy buds have the translate capability. I bought a pair recently (Buds 2 Pro), coincidentally. Haven't looked into it.

@ronjax challenge accepted lol and as far as the dirty words go I’m good lol it’s just all the other stuff and conjugation of verbs I sometimes get tripped up on

Whoa this is a cool idea. I think even if one has to type on the Google translator machine while the other listens, it still would be more productive that typing back and forth.

It seems like the automatic feedback translation could help Ron turn into the big T-Rex as well hearing the Spanish then immediately the English translation is heard. Learning would seem faster that way.

@59 - that is cool if the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro have that because just checked and I happen to have a pair I use at the gym...lol. I'm definitely going to look into them.

@Zbott - (Dumb and Dumber moment) On our next trip, we could try it on each other speaking English to each other... Hahaha

Now after reading this, it makes me start thinking about the mechanism to how this could work. I'm guessing the translation software would still need to be run on the phone. I would think they are using the ear phone mics and speakers instead of the phone like the voice translate on Google translate. With that said, I'm wondering if it could work with Air Pods as well if inputs and outputs could be set at the software level like on Google Translate. Definitely going to check it out in the morning.
Tried two different models from Timekettle. Not quite there yet. Tried the mid price set in Santiago. There is an off line mode, but we couldn’t make it work very well. Better with an internet connection, but in Santiago it was hard to find a place with internet. Tried again in Tijuana at a restaurant. Better, but the lag was enough that it was little improvement over Google Translate.

Bought their top of the line version for myself for Xmas. No better. Indeed, after I spoke in English, my pod said some gibberish. Asked my girl if she understood the Spanish and she said yes. When she spoke Spanish, the English translation was clear and fairly accurate. However, the gibberish feedback after I spoke was terribly annoying. Contacted Timekettle about the issue but three days and no reply. I returned them for a refund. And little things, like the bulky carry case was also annoying. The translations were printed out on the phone so mistakes were easy to spot, but they were not an improvement over Google Translate.

I put it daily lessons and try to get pronunciation help from locals, but complex topics or a noisy environment are difficult for me. Patience and Google Translate work well. I hope that someday soon a translation tool like this will work as designed, but it isn’t there yet.
I never even know these were out there. So we have tricorders and universal translators now. That is all well and good, but where the hell is my flying car?

Another example of sex being the motivation behind technological innovation.
The internet as we know it wouldn't exist if it weren't for porn/sex, lol.

@Puta Tester - thanks for you input on experience, cool to know.

@ Z - like you thinking! Lol.

When we try the translators at HK, you will say "Can you understand me?" Then I would probably say, "it is a miracle, I totally understood what you said! Wow!!". Lol
Nice! I can hear "wannadance" no matter where I go in the world!
Zbott- Interesting find, I didn’t even know something like this existed until you mentioned it. I’ll need to check into it more in detail.

So far, ‘ Google Translate ‘ seems to be doing wonders for me and I am very comfortable using it with chicas and vice-versa ( they all seem familiar with it too and very comfortable using it )👍🏻

@PuddyTat “transgender earbuds 🤣
I should be receiving a translator earpiece this week.
I'll let you know If it's better than using Google Translate on my phone.
Well, it came but I still haven't figured out how to connect it with my phone. The instructions are extremely small faint print and requires a magnifying glass just to try and see it.
@Jascoi
I do a lot of repairs at home and I also buy a lot of new to me technology, one of the best tools I’ve found for installing new stuff, and repairing stuff is you tube, if you search the site for instructions for “name of item” you’ll find not just the instructions but usually there’ll be a video of someone explaining how to along with the step by step instructions.
Give it a try I use it often.
