Discussions vs Articles

I know that you're young and inexperienced; but you can trust me to be sensitive and understanding. Now, here, have more tequila.
I've read some good articles on TUSCL. But, there's always at least one expert reviewer who comments, "not an article - should be in discussion."
Can one of Founder's minions please educate me on the criteria to be considered a true article? I haven't written one yet, but I sure don't want to fuck it up when I do. LOL

As with most things there isn't one right way to do an article. The way I look at it, an article is something that is meant to be of general interest as a standalone post and not "let me tell you about that time I banged Trixie with pink hair" or some other bit of trivia that is more at home on the Front Room message board.
If the majority is good with it being an article and approve it as such, don’t worry about the minority comments.
A discussion is only a good discussion if it involves one or more of the following:
What type of pants to wear for a LDK
Tattoos? Love ‘em or hate ‘em
Surviving in Tijuana on limited Spanish
How to arrange your money
Best time of the month to score OTC
Hip Hop or Classic Rock?
Getting called a racist
Calling someone a racist
Ditto for Fascist, Marxist, Socialist
Godwin’s Law
* Substance: there should be depth to the post that wouldn't necessarily be present in a discussion
* Clarity: an article should be well written and meticulously edited.
An article is you telling a story, or giving out advice
