Heard a rumor that, due to pressure from LE, the club is going to clamp down on the level of contact for floor dances. And dancers will be required to carry transparent bags only, to make sure they don't have condoms. Not sure if that means extras are still possible if you bring your own condom.
Doesn't affect me. I only look at the girls, and even then I close my eyes when the nudity becomes too much for me. Transparent bags may be the stupidest idea I've ever heard. Those girls have bags inside bags with makeup, clothes, and all manner of shit. Going to a ball game where you're trying to find weapons like big knives and guns? Transparent bags sound reasonable. Seeking out condoms inside a woman's huge duffle type bag? Stupidity.
I heard elsewhere a few weeks ago that they were going to limit contact because somebody was caught D.O. on the floor, or something. Whatever, hasn't happened so far. People talk all the time about shit that's going to happen. Sometimes it does, usually it doesn't. Don't know why people can't just live and let live.
According to the rumor, new rules start Monday (6/9).
Given they're slated to lose the overflow parking lot, I guess this is one way to guarantee they won't need it. Another motivation may be to force more people into getting VIPs (which the club takes a cut of). Or, maybe the developer who's building on the current overflow lot is trying to put the club out of business through good ole boys.
Also heard the Latinas who were at Diamond came over to Vivide. It already seemed like the dancers weren't busy enough before that. Last thing they need is to lose PLs.
So how close is Vivide to the old Follies? I know this has been talked about already but since that set up has been there a while I was thinking about checking it out. Is Vivide just the best bet there is in town or is it a destination club like Follies used to be?
Vivide is probably the best club in the SE for value and mileage. There are 8 Vip booths. Prices like everything else have gone up but are the best you're gonna find at $60 house fee for 30 minutes and mostly $200 for a dancer. Mileage for dances can vary but mostly Follies quality and only $10 .
Where it differs from Follies is in the dancer make up. Follies was pretty diverse whereas Vivide is 75-80% Cubans that speak very little English.
Is it a destination? That depends on where you live and what you like.
You can always put condoms in your shoes and your wallet. This is just catering to the LE for political points. The more witty dancers will just sneak them in (some may even charge you for it).
shadowcat is right in everything he said (of course), but as a 20-year patron of Follies, I would add that in general, the seating in Vivide doesn't provide the kind of dark nooks and crannies that Follies had, where pretty much anything was possible out on the floor. That said, the HM-to-VHM never-more-than-$10 nude dances at Vivide are still probably the best value in the U.S.
As someone who likes extras, Vivide is certainly a destination for me, especially when you add the decently indecent VIP opportunities (if you get my drift). Not sure I'd come all the way across the country for it, but as an East Coaster, if I'm traveling through the southeast I always try to make a stop here.
