Report: Chiefs Wide Receiver Tyreek Hill To Dolphins In Blockbuster Trade

The Kansas City Chiefs no longer have the league’s most dangerous deep-threat weapon.

On Wednesday, Kansas City traded wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins for five draft picks, including a first and second round draft pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Breaking: The Chiefs are trading Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins for five draft picks, sources told @AdamSchefter.

2022 1st-round (No. 29)

2022 2nd-round pick (No. 50)

2022 4th-round pick

2023 4th and 6th-round picks

Adam Schefter also reported that Hill will receive a four-year, $120 million contract extension from Miami, with $72.2 million in guaranteed money. The deal makes him the highest paid wide receiver in NFL history, according to Schefter.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Wednesday morning that contract extension talks between Hill and the Chiefs had stalled, opening the door for a blockbuster trade.

The New York Jets were reportedly the other team in on the Hill sweepstakes, offering multiple draft picks, but not putting either one of their 2022 first round picks into the offer.

Hill is a six-time Pro Bowl selection, and a three time All-Pro, winning the 2020 Super Bowl with Chiefs. In his six seasons in Kansas City, Hill caught 479 passes for 6,630 yards and 56 touchdowns. He is the game’s most explosive player and will now be paired next to Dolphins 2021 first round draft pick, Jaylen Waddle. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is entering his third year in the league.

Look at how much the Chiefs are paying their QB. They can't afford to keep any of their other top players. Just watch what players the Browns are gonna have to dump because of the Deshaun Watson deal.

In trades like this, I always wonder if the selling team knows something that the buying team doesn’t.

I think KC won that deal. As good as Hill is, they can restock the roster at a lower cost and still give Mahoney enough targets.

Tyreek is no doubt a unique talent but Andy Reid is an offensive mastermind and he'll likely have that offensive still clicking

By the way, I know how to spell Mahomes but I don’t seem to be very good at monitoring fucking spellcheck.

If the Chiefs choose wisely in those draft picks they could pick up 2 studs to equal the output of Tyreek. I sure would rather be playing football in Miami than KC in late November!

Dallas got rid of Amari Cooper; Green Bay got rid of Davante Adams .. It's what happens when you overpay at quarterback. Kansas City won one super bowl with Mahomes and I predict one and done.

there were a lot games that hill wasn't even a factor. an electrifying player he is but no way should he be the highest paid wide receiver. imho that would be copper kupp or davante adams.

GMs are wising up to the moneyball aspect of the game. It’s really difficult to build a winning team if you are paying 20% if your salary cap to one player.

A perfect formula for a SB team is a stud QB on a rookie contract, a few play maker veterans at around $10M, and a split between players on rookie contracts and solid veterans at $4-$8M contracts.

I wonder how Tyreek is gonna fit in Miami – he seems a bit of an emotional-player and he may soon get frustrated not having the success (and thus adulation) that he had in KC – one wonders if that Tyreek-$$$ would have been better-spent building a better all-around Dolphins roster – it’s not as if the Dolphins are just one player away from being a Super Bowl contender.

But at the end of the day Tyreek got his $$$ and will be living in party-Miami so that may be enough to keep him happy.

“Is that why Watson and Rodgers just got two of the five richest contracts “

And, the first thing the Packers did was trade Rodgers favorite receiver due to salary cap issues. We’ll see how it plays out.

Watson has won nothing. Rodgers has won less than Eli Manning. Let's see one of these superstar qbs and their money wins multiple super bowls. Eli Manning won more super bowls that Watson, Rodgers, Brees, Lamar, Josh Allen and all these other overpaid ball throwers.

Valdes-Scantling is fool's gold. His production never equals the promise of his size and speed.

If you play fantasy, you know the MVS can run down the field really fast, but cannot catch the ball, get open or get yacs.

Hill and his ability to get open quick & get big YAC seems like a good for Tua who can quickly get the ball to an open receiver nearby with good placement. But I doubt Tua will be able to make the deep throws that style of offense depends on to open up the underneath throws. Defenses will quickly compress and continue to limit the big play ability of Waddle, Mostert, and Hill. And they'll be able to constantly rush the passer without fear of getting burnt for a big play, making the O-line look even worse than they are.

This feels like another case of Steven Ross wanting to make a splash and sell tickets, without thinking about long term success.
