How long to get back across with global entry?

The last time I visited I spent over two hours in line waiting to cross the border to get back in. I’m thinking about getting a global entry card. Is it really as quick and simple as walking past the rest of the of the line with my card and doing what took over two hours last time in less than ten minutes?

Apply asap. Pre-Covid, the process was 4-6 weeks from application to in-person interview at which Global Entry authorization granted. My understanding is that post-Covid, process has been 4-6 months.
