a pro tip from me about the drinks in the mini fridge... I don't like to pay the high price at the hotels for the drinks so I remove them and hide them elsewhere in the room. sometimes I'll buy a bottle of cheap tequila or vodka and a juice from Oxxo and grab a couple of plastic cups from the bar in the lobby for the girl and me to drink. I usually buy a large bottle of water for me anyway at the oxxo store. maybe even possibly a full size cerveza bottle for the girl if I might think she wants that.
and also when you check in your room check the number of drinks and the type of drinks and make sure that it is noted on your deposit slip by the front desk if you are short a drink or two. I think presently there are eight drinks in the mini fridge. it used to be 10 and then it was seven and now it's 8.
don't forget to put those drinks that you hid away back into the mini fridge before you check out. most of them have stickers that are unique to HK/ cascada/ rlzo/ tropical. so if you try to replace a drink in the mini fridge that you bought at Oxxo you might get caught still paying the hotel price for the drink.
and if I have some alcohol left I usually go ahead and just take it back into the United States with me. when the border patrol officer asked me if I have anything to declare I'll tell him vodka! or tequila! I actually like being able to declare some booze to the border patrol officer.
some guys just leave the opened bottle in the room for the telechero to pick up or drink...
put it in your luggage or a bag but I've even carried the bottle in the open a few times with no problem yet... just don't drink any of it on the street in Mexico or USA. and put it in the trunk of your car.
