Boarder crossing

Planning a trip to HK how has the boarder crossing been into TJ and back to US? Anything I need to be aware of re: customs/BP?

See @Southwestguy's beginner guide to getting to HK Tijuana tuscl.net and let us know if you have specific questions. . It seems like it's been pretty normal crossing the border lately. . However, if you are a foreign national or green card holder you might run into trouble. Lots of stories in the news lately about people being denied entry or having their devices searched. I think if you are a US citizen you are fine.

As a US Citizen ( with valid proof on hand ), no issues at all and it’ll be fine 👍🏻

You should bear in mind that even a US citizen can have their devices searched w/o a warrant. While you do not need to unlock your phone they can seize it and you may not get it back for weeks or months.

Just now crossed the border back to the US ( at 8:05pm ) and it took me 5 mins. CBP agent briefly asked the reason of my visit and I told him it was to “ Meet up with friends at the HK bar and enjoyed a nice meal at a popular Brazilian restaurant “. Also at the Zona, there was hardly any Policia presence this evening 👍🏻

The only thing you have to keep in mind is the line back to the states. If you are crossing in the day, plan on an hour+. At night, 10-15 minutes.
Regarding agents, the last 20+ times I crossed back in, basically only asked reason for visit ("vacation") and/or if I have anything to declare ("no") and they let me pass. They usually just ask the declaration question now. Granted I go through the Sentri line. The general line, usually just asked 2-3 quick questions except for the very first time I ever crossed back and the agent was being a dick because he lived in the same area I did so he wanted to challenge why I went to another In and Out versus the one he expected me. They don't go to the extreme of checking phones or any of that.

They don't go to the extreme of checking phones or any of that. ^ justinyoo- I agree. In my 20 + years of border-crossings to the US ( in car and by foot ), not once have I experienced any agent asking for a device check/confiscation ( max. passing through time from agent’s booth has been less than 2- 5 mins ).

Has anyone who is not US Citizen (B1/B2 visa) faced any issues?
