If the value and virtue of people is what determined whether they were worthy of help, there would a lot more people meeting bad ends in this world. There are times in history where you can look at an event and it's pretty clear cut whose on the wrong side of things.
Ukraine will survive, and this poorly planned, and miserably executed war, will be used as a model of Russian incompetence in the future.
