John Deere Mass Layoffs

Avatar for dustyj

Trump's tariffs are causing mass layoffs at John Deere. The incredibly stupid tariffs are crushing farmers. How many other industries and workers will be crushed by tariffs?

Do you ever not change the subject? Your orange fuck is destroying industries and is an obvious child rapist. Do you admit yes he is a child rapist, yes his tariffs are fucking stupid? No you deflect to other bullshit. Who cares if rural hospitals and nursing homes close and people lose healthcare because of Trump? Who cares if farmers go bankrupt because of Trump? Republicans seem to be incapable of empathy. As long as it doesn't affect you directly right now, who cares if others suffer?

@dustyj are you a Russian bot, who's trying to discredit the opposition to Trump?

It's guilt by association to call Trump a child rapist. A jury concluded there was more evidence than not that Trump raped an adult. Trump wanted to appoint Matt Gaetz as Attorney General, even though there were credible allegations Gaetz had committed statutory rape. By claiming relatively weak accusations as facts, you are diverting from substantiated criticism of Trump. If bombshell information related to Epstein is revealed, that's no win for Democrats at this point. Biden kept it covered up for 4 years too, either because of collusion or incompetence. And Biden commuted the sentence of the Kids for Cash judge.

It's likely the layoff at John Deere has tariffs as a cause. The elimination of AID food aid may also be a factor. But farmers are also pissed at John Deere, because of its monopolistic practices that prevent third party shops from repairing the equipment. So they may be switching to other suppliers.

No, farmrs are doing quite well as are brands like KUBOTA - unlike the pricks at J Deere who thought it was better to manufacture in another country than use labor in the USA.

Yes, the American Farm Bureau sued John Deere over the "Right to Repair" the equipment the farmers purchased. (After all, if you are not allowed to repair it, you don't really "own" it.) John Deere was insisting you have to bring John Deere equipment back to the dealer for all service work. The Farm Bureau prevailed in its lawsuit, at least on some points.

Seems like when you reach the point an Ag equipment company is being sued by the Farm Bureau, it may be time for the CEO of John Deere to reconsider his course. But, nah.

Sometimes, there is actually more profit if you are not so greedy.

Why do you think that bankruptcies are at the highest level since COVID right now with those numbers continuing to increase? It's almost like this Trump economy is causing businesses to fail. Trump promised to bring food prices down. Has that happened? What is the price of beef right now? How many people are getting the highest energy bills they've ever gotten in their lives right now? Didn't people vote for him because he was going to help with prices? He hasn't done a fucking thing to bring prices down on anything.

Pretty sure that the majority of bankruptcy filings are coming out of California and those are due to massive government over regulation. But whatever you need to justify your Trump hatred. Biggest issue I see is that Trump thinks like a businessman and is looking 10 years ahead not to next election cycle. If his plans were allowed to run their course we’d be in great shape.

When Biden killed the Keystone XL Pipeline, were you pissed-off with layoffs plus environmental impact now that oil from Canada has to be trucked and train'ed to the Gulf of America? How about all the jobs that were lost, in gov't & military, who refused the jab? How about the workers laid off when Biden killed The Wall? How about Rough Necks when Biden turned new drilling permits to barely a trickle?

Cisco lays off around 7% semi-annually, and do you care?

The Fed is 6 months late, as usual, with cutting the Federal Funds Rate out of TDS rage. Rates really need to be cut 100 basis points, 25BPS at a time over 6 months, to help: 1) mortgage and car rates; 2) commercial loans to help the One BBB with construction & energy infrastructure investments; 3) Treasury bonds that Yellin did with short-term bonds that now need to be renewed. THEY KNOW NOTHING, NOTHING!

Tariffs are not the problem, inflation is steady below 3%. There is a good reason Colbert is being nuked, and why MSNBC was renamed to MS NOW that will soon be MS Buh-BYE,

Farmers are going bankrupt because of both tariffs and Hispanic workers stopped showing up because of Ice Raids. Food is rotting in the fields with no workers. This causes both huge losses for farmers and increased food costs. Trump has pissed off China with tariffs to the point where they refuse to buy things like soybeans from us and farmers are going bankrupt because of it. Canada is literally boycotting buying any American products. How does this work out long term? It will cause massive losses in revenue obviously.

Dusty lives in Russia back country, but Putin told him he is an American, so he spouts this drivel. You know what is great about Tariffs? Those hating them; those wetting themselves; they whining incessantly, are all progressives.

The citizens of Canada are boycotting buying anything in stores made in the United States. Liquor stores are refusing to carry our products and the citizens have come together to refuse to buy anything from the United States.

Just leave if it's that bad? Great solution. The quitters guide to failure. As if we should just stand by and watch a fascist dictator ruin the country we've lived in our entire lives and just not fight it. Amazingly some people are too stupid to recognize a fascist dictator when they see one. Overwhelmingly the residents of other countries can see Trump for what he is, a lying con man dictator and they can't understand why Americans are dumb enough to fall for it. Trump is universally despised around the world.

If anti-Trumpers were going to leave the US, Canada would be a likely place they'd want to go. Where would MAGAs go if they were going to leave? Hungary? Russia? Argentina? El Salvador? Look around the world, see what MAGA-style ignorance, selfishness, arrogance, and hatred brings.

Carney said Canada will now match the US by ending its tariffs on goods compliant with the US-Mexico-Canada free trade agreement (USMCA). He said that would "re-establish free trade for the vast majority" of goods that move between the two countries.

John Deere most recently laid of a couple hundred people, lol. They employ roughly 70,000. And they've been laying people off since April of 2004, long before Trump arrived.
.
If you're going to post shrill stuff like this, at least do your research first silly girl. I know you're not terribly bright, but this info was not hard to find. 😉

This is not about what's happening at John Deere, Rick Dugan is correct about the headline, but if you really want some clarity about what Powell's remarks portend here is a summary and it's not good

"Meanwhile, retirees are being offered higher inflation risk and lower inflation compensation on their investments. Not a winning combination.
But look on the bright side: If they rig the inflation figures going forward to hide rising prices, your annual Social Security cost-of-living increase will get wiped out as well.
Bright side? I was being sarcastic."

BTW Here's a bit more to put the statement above into perspective

"Not only did Powell not defend the Fed, but he appeared to mollify the president and his allies by opening the door to a possible interest-rate cut next month. This is what sent the stock market booming Friday. But Powell’s comments were gratuitous — there was no economic reason to make them. The market was already anticipating rate cuts; the only reason to make them was political: to appease the White House and its allies.
It’s almost impossible to overstate how important the independence of the Federal Reserve is to retirees, and everyone else for that matter. It is the cornerstone of price stability. It was a political Fed that let inflation run amok in the 1960s and 1970s and an independent Fed, under legendary Chairman Paul Volcker, who crushed that inflation in the 1980s. For example, if you were to buy a long-term bond paying 4% a year and inflation averages 2% a year, you are ahead of the game. If inflation averages 3%, you are in trouble, and if it averages 4% or higher … well, do the math.
Donald Trump has already claimed that real inflation is effectively 0%, even though the official rate is 2.7%. And he has demanded that the Fed slash short-term interest rates by at least three percentage points, from the current 4.25% to 4.5% to around 1% or even lower. One can only imagine what the situation would look like — or will look like — if he gets his way.
But this isn’t the only worrying news for retirees.
Even while Powell was hinting at interest-rate cuts, he also explained how inflation is rising and how Trump’s arbitrary import taxes, known as tariffs, are causing it.

@ NCParrothead, as of June 30th (most recent numbers I could find) California was #10 in bankruptcies. Texas was #5. I'm of course open to checking out any sources you have that say otherwise.

If the democrat party would heed the advice of nearly every non-partisan professional political analyst and level-headed armchair pundit, there would be no one left to represent the coastal elites, globalists, and communists in America. How tragic would that be?
