Myrtle Beach

TxVegas
Still looking for an ATF
Years ago, golfers from the Northeast would come down for the strip clubs. Then, the local government decided to set rules and ordinances that made most clubs unable to continue their operations. I looked on the review page and there were four clubs with reviews and 14 marked as closed. One of the four has a website that says opening soon. So, there are now three clubs open and they appear to have dropped significantly in quality.

I am sure there are cities that have cracked down harder than here, but I am not aware of any. All of the golfers that used to have annual trips here have migrated to other places like Florida where they can still have fun. The golf mecca that was really a strip club mecca has fallen on hard times.

It’s been almost 20 years since I’ve been to myrtle beach (college days) and I remember many of those strip clubs.

    1. Insanely hot strippers in the summer months

    2. If I remember the lap dances were reasonable priced for a tourist trap

    3. Horrible air dances

I’m thinking Thee Doll House may have been my first strip climb visit ever.

Everything you stated is on point. My golf group and I used to consider MB one of our top destinations... no more. The local bible thumpers got what they wanted. Less golfers, less courses, less clubs... hope it's working out for their economy.

i hate to correct others and be a pedantifyer but as a space geneious i must point out that fewer should have been usified rather than less. ie fewer golfers, fewer courses, fewer clubs qed

Longball, while I am sorry to see the strip club market change in South Carolina overall and certainly Myrtle Beach (it has changed for the worse in Columbia, Charleston and Greenville also), it does not seem to have impacted the economy in any negative way. Real Estate along the coast is booming and the economy in SC overall is doing just fine. That being said, the strip club experience went from one of the best to one of the worst.

We used to do our golf trip to Myrtle Beach or Kiaweh Island. Then it was PGA National in West Palm. Then World Woods. Then Cocoa Beach. Without trip clubs there is no golf trip.

I live in an aging neighborhood. Everyone on my street (15 houses) myself and two others are under 65. Of the remaining two only one is under 60. Anyway all these people are snow birds and have second homes and almost all them are in Myrtle or Hilton head. When my grand parents were that age they were all going to the west coast of Florida but the shift seems to have gone to South Carolina. Probably because it’s a lot closer over Florida. I don’t think it’s really any cheaper. Right now 5 people on my street are down there. They usually come back up around April or May.

Sounds like you need to look at golf courses near Tampa. Or Detroit.

Tampa golf is mediocre, just like the strip clubs.

On the flip side of that; Detroit has some of the nicest, least expensive golf courses I have played, great clubs and casinos.

^^^ 2nd this, and Detroit is spread out like a MFr but it’s pretty easy to get around when compared to other cities of comparable size. Who ever built that city got a great deal on concrete because everywhere there needs to be a road, they went ahead and built 4 of them.

Center up your Google Maps on DTW and search on "golf course" and then "strip club". You can hit Taylor Lakes, Taylor Meadows, Gateway, Willow, Eagle Crest / Flight Club, Criket, Landing Strip, Bogarts...... and so on.... all within 20 minutes of the airport. Is there any where else in the country to do that? Phoenix? To me the decent clubs (golf and boobie) in Tampa are much further apart than in The D. If anyone knows of one let me know it may be my next trip.

Within 40 miles of Providence you can play golf on woodland tracts; links tracks; oceanside tracks; and hilly tracks. All public, all inexpensive, and Providence extras are your nightlife.

It sucks when they try to clean up an area that is a strip club destination.

I’ve only heard stories about the fun had on Myrtle Beach “golf getaways with the guys”.

Sadly, the great LT fell into trouble while trying to enjoy some relaxing time in Myrtle Beach...

I had a dedicated group of dudes that ranged from 4 to 16 in number that hit MB religiously for about 15 years. I could tell stories all night about those trips both on and off the course. More than once we hired dancers at the clubs to come be our "caddies" the next day. Also used that "Caddy Girls" company several times. Those trips are legendary.

I hit some MB clubs in 2018/19 and was not that impressed. I had fun but it didn’t seem like a national destination but maybe I was late to the party. Had it already peaked?

Unfortunately, MB died somewhere in the 2014? range. I think the ordinance was actually passed in 2013.... in yes, "Horry" county:

I noticed today the MB Treasure Club is in the top 40 list and thought that can’t be right. Maybe a new thread but it seems to me there should be like a minimum of 10 unique reviewers required. A lot of those in the overall top 40 are based on 6 reviewers or less. But I’m sure the pandemic is skewing everything right now.

Myrtle Beach clubs used to be fun with very attractive dancers. Many came for only part of the year (spring and fall golf seasons). The last time I went, the clubs were very poor.

The quality of the golf courses has also gone down. My perception was that they were not as busy and therefore they spent less on conditioning and maintenance.

I have work in the area soon and will probably just pass on the clubs.
