Living well and enjoying my retirement
There have been many actors who played the part but Sean Connery will always be James Bond to me
R.I.P.

RIP Mr. Bond. He will always be one of my two favorites (the other being Daniel Craig). Both of them played Bond with just the right amount of hard edge with just a modicum of humor. Timothy Dalton is my number 3.

PB #4 by a sizeable margin. Roger Moore #5 - victim of poor material (On the other hand, he was great in The Saint TV series and in ffolkes), George Lazenby #6, a block of wood would have been better.

David Niven: 1967
When Sean Connery had been cast in November 1961, David Niven had been Fleming's choice for the role; the actor reflected the author's image of the character. In 1965 producer Charles Feldman signed Niven to play Sir James Bond for Casino Royale, a film not made by Eon Productions.

I hit post too soon, I wanted to say that I'm glad Sean Connery got chosen over David Niven, the part would never have been such an icon. all of the actors that played James Bond did OK but Connery set the bar very high, and none who came after him were quite as good, the part also typecast Connery in such a way that all of his other movie parts, while many were quite good, you always thought of James Bond when he was on screen.

He was great in the Bond movies. Once he moved on from those however, he started speaking like his mouth was full of marbles. Don't know if that was intentional or not but it became tiresome to listen to that film after film.

Oh no this sucks Sean’s the man. I liked a lot of his movies even outside the Bond stuff, Finding Forrester was great.

What about George Lazenby...oh, never mind. After Sean Connery, I didn't watch the Bond films anymore.

As Bonds go, I felt Timothy Dalton was underrated. Daniel Craig's reinvention has surpassed even the original. Nondisrespect to Connery, but he is only the second best Bond.

He was fortunate he lived a long life and seemed to be in good health for most of it - he seemed to remain relevant and admired so it seems he lived a good life

The only JB I'm really familiar with is Roger Moore - I came from Cuba in 1979 at age 9 and by then Moore was James Bond so the Roger Moore movies are the ones I grew up with and the only ones I really watched - I'm not a huge movie-buff and for the most-part don't like old movues that are b/f my time so I never really saw a Connery JB movie and from scenes I've seen of the old Connery Bond films it didn't pique my interest bc I'm not into old films b/f my time.

I didn't think Moore was necessarily a great actor and felt he was a little old to be playing action movies but I did like the Bond movies themselves that he was in.

I cannot see either Idris Elba nor Tom Hiddleston gor the mext Bond. Elba is too old (and Bond is white), and Hiddleston lacks the physical strength and savoir faire. Tom Hardy is overrated, but he was good as Bane. Maybe the Wolverine or Thor actors (little stoned rn and can't think of their names).

Roger Moore passed away in 2017 at age 89 so he was actually older than Connery

Wow - per Google:

"... At the time of his death, Connery had a net worth of $350 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth estimates ..."

I've enjoyed all the Bond movies. But Connery and Moore were the tops.

One of the greats and he was in so many other great films over the years.
It's hard to believe that he hadn't been in a movie in around 17 years but he left a helluva legacy.

R.I.P. Sir Connery! 😔

"Bond, James Bond." "Stone, George Stone."

Everybody knows the first line well from several Bond movies that Sean Connery starred in. How many of us know that Sean Connery's only Oscar Award (1988) was for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Detective Malone in "The Untouchables." IMO, his award was richly deserved. That second quote was spoken when he was interviewing prospects for a spot on "the team." Sir Sean Connery (he was also knighted) you truly led a long and fulfilling life. Well done, sir.

Sean Connery was by far the best James Bond. By today's standards he would be in a courtroom prosecuted for his sexual aggression.
