BYOB Club Etiquette Question

Fellow TUSClers, I discovered a BYOB club near me has reopened. I've never been there and am interested in checking it out as the clubs closest to me are still on COVID hiatus. The setup is that you pay to "buy back" your drinks each time ($2 each I think it is). My question is should you tip each time too? How much per trip? Or just leave something at the end. Thanks, Ollie

I typically tip the waitress the same way at a BYOB club as I would at a regular club. I start off with a decent tip (pay with a $20 and let her keep the change) at the beginning to help get better service and better info for the rest of the night. After that it is usually a couple bucks per drink.

I've never been in a club with this type of setup - I assume one would tip the waitress b/c she's getting you "a drink" like she would if it was the club supplying it (even though it's your drink) - I guess a buck tip would do.

When I lived and SCed in Dallas, the BYOB clubs allowed you to bring in and keep your drinks by your side and I assume they charged you for bringing in your drinks - I'm not a big drinker so I never bothered to bring drinks and would just order a water to sip on as I would in an alcohol SC.

The BYOB clubs in CT are like this and I tip a couple bucks for each drink, which they seem to appreciate. Though I've always enjoyed the TX, KS and PA BYOB clubs better because I can just keep my bottle with me, which is much more convenient.

Never heard of buying back your drink that you already bought and tipping to do it sounds like paying to let someone fuck you in the ass and tell them you enjoy it.

I get they want ways to make money, but charge for ice, cups, or even fee for each item (12 pack/bottle etc) you bring in.

So you bring a 12pk and leave after 2 drinks bc talent is lacking, they'll charge you $20 to get your 10 left? Something sounds off.

I wouldnt tip more then a buck or 2, if I am at a bar and its busy but they make sure my drink is full I tip $2 per drink or 25% which ever is more. So Id assume the same, but thats a weird concept the only byob place I have been was in Lawerence and you could bring a keg in (if you ket them know in advance) and even then you serve yourself, no ice, bucket or any type of charge.

Yes and no. What I pay to get my booze back at Ruby II in Bridgeport CT, after factoring the cost of the bottle, is still much cheaper than my bar tab at pretty much any regular club. Also, Ruby's has a nominal cover charge, where some of the byob clubs in other areas charge $20-40+ to get in. So there are some trade offs. The clubs have to make money somehow.

I’ve only been to one that has the set up as you have described. Candyland in Memphis. They charge you $2 per beer that you bring in and $10 per bottle of other shit I think. No waitresses. Just a square room with strippers sitting on laps. The most common BYOB that I go to basically let’s you buy a cup of ice and then go out to your car to fill it up. I tip as a normal club. $20 to start, then & $2 per drink.

Never been to that type of byob club. But what papi said.... a buck or 2 per drink seems sufficient

Iowa clubs are most all byob. We keep our beer with us. At our tables. Some clubs have a makeshift cooler sunken in the tables. The bounces will bring ice around. Some guys just wheel in a big cooler.

Pink monkey in Chicago doesn't allow beer. They are hard liquor bottle only. They sell u mixers

Haven't heard of that. All the BYOB clubs I have been to, drink prices weren't part of their income plan. Not one so far charged to bring drinks to your table, and only asked that you tipped your waitress.

All of them all also happened to have some the cheapest non-alcoholic drinks. Soda was typically $2 and at one club years ago it was $1, and fresh brewed iced tea was free.
