I'd heavily lean towards you are being scammed. It is not impossible that a woman would have interest in Steam cards - women enjoy video games too - but do you really think a legit provider would want hundreds of dollars in Steam credit?

I'm getting this a lot lately on Seeking. Cute girl is real interested. We exchange numbers, set up a meeting, then she wants a little something upfront. Most times it's not much 30-50 dollars. As far as verifying that they're a real person, Tryst, P411, and Slixa all extensively verify their girls beyond simply asking for a photocopy of their ID. (ie: Wanting photo of the girl holding their ID/website sign with that day's date and their username/newspaper showing their city and date on it from different angles, and if their other ads match what info they're trying to register with.)

As far as verifying their intentions or that they won't scam you, the only way to really get an idea is by checking their reviews IF they have any reviews from past clients. The rest really is on your gut. A few girls offer a brief (like 5 minute) Facetime or Skype video chat to the guy if he's not too convinced she's the real deal, but not a lot of them do.

It's a see-saw of trust because a lot of girls ask for a deposit because they've been scammed or robbed by clients, and a number of girls will ask for a deposit... just to take it and disappear off the face of the Earth. All comes down to her presentation, how big her online presence is on ad pages or social media, and how she communicates with you before meeting. If she's really aggressive about you fetching a card to make a deposit of whatever amount, that's usually a red flag.

upfront money is a scam from my experience. I just don't do it and when I am pressed I bolt. look its way too easy for some guy in Bulgaria to take your $50 than for a hard pressed girl to test your mettle. It just doesn't work that way.

A ~ yes; some providers can and do.

@Eve’s advice on good sites and using Facetime or Skype video is spot on, during the texting conversation just ask:

“Do you think it’s a good idea to get a glimpse of each other before meeting, I asume we can Video Chat For a few seconds, right?”

If she says “no” it is up to you to take your chances, but chances are the pictures are not a true representation of the provider.

Sometimes you have to take one for the team, and take a chance, only use money you do not need, and will be ok with using it as payment for the life lesson, ie finding out if she is the real deal or not.
