Not opening anytime soon?

The Square Above Charlie Weaver
As shadowcat posted earlier, people are posting on usasg about second hand info on whn they will open. A couple of days ago someone heard from dancers June 14. Another guy has now posted than an employee told him it will be August or even September.

Why would they wait that long? I remember they are on the tail end of some sort of deal with the county to stay open for a limited time. I I don't remember the details. you would think they would err on the side of opening too soon rather than waiting too long.

No info on this at all, but it makes you wonder if this is the opportunity (closed down and not making any money anyway) to be swinging a deal to cash out. That property has to be worth around $1 million.

I'm guessing they're waiting for the next level of restrictions lifting. It's a numbers game and it's hard to justify the compliance costs until the number of customers justifies it. Present restrictions would require removal of more than half of the tables. It's not a big club.

Agree with some of your other points except the value of the property, based on revenue model, would be much, much higher. When they are rolling they are printing money there.

I was talking about the land and building for another business, not the value of Follies as a business. Turn it back into a fern bar/restaurant after 35 years.

Or how about combine the best of both. A 24 hour Pho restaurant with naked servers and private dining cubicles.

Re Follies agreement with the county.

In 2007, there was an amendment to the agreement (with De Kalb county) which extended the terms for 15 years. The amendment required strip clubs to pay the county $100,000 annually through 2017, then $150,000 for the remaining five years until the deal expired in 2022.Follies’ now pays that money to Chamblee, which after annexing the club in 2013 passed a resolution recognizing the agreement and allowing it to continue serving alcohol and featuring nude dancing, according to the lawsuit.

This year's $150k hurts a lot more with being closed at least 1/4 of the year (possibly longer) and likely significant limits on capacity for the rest of the year.

I think it's what bubba said, they are a small club and are waiting for more restrictions to be lifted.

Also, they make waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than $1 million a year, if the property is only worth that much there is no way they will sell it. They will sell the business itself before they sell the property.

I suppose you are right. Milk the teats (pun intended) until they are dry at the end of 2022, THEN sell the property.

Also realizing the posters on the other site have no idea what is what. In three days i have seen next week, August/September and July 1 as opening dates. All very "authoritative" posts.

Went fannies yesterday from airport one dancer w a few more rolling in about 12:45 the ones I saw were about a 6. Most I haven’t seen. The same bartender. They must have been expecting a crowd as there were two waitresses and two bartenders: saw a dancer from follies frizziest hair and heavier set more so then when she was at follies said they were opening the 12th. Saw her give a dance no mask looked like decent grind

Had a nice visit to Oasis yesterday. Drove by Follies on the way back home—it’s kind of on the way. There were several cars in the back of the parking lot behind the building—maybe getting ready to reopen?

I didn't know Oasis was open again. Thought that this might do them in. Them operating against a order. I passed by Follies looked close and didn't see the back lot. :( Not that I was planning on stopping by. All those poor women with no income, Wonder what they are doing now.

New Georgia rules effective midnight June 16 allows for more seating. Could be this is what Follies has been waiting for.

I hope so but from what i've read the new rules allow for 50 people inside or 35% occupancy whichever is more. 35% would allow for 105 I believe. Assume 15 staff that's 90 dancers and customers combined. I guess it's possible they would operate like that.

Talked to an ex-Follies girl (been gone for several years) that is now at Oasis. She said Follies dancers are coming in to try to get jobs at Oasis because they are told Follies is not opening soon. This has been going on for a few weeks. She said Oasis will not hire almost all of them because their experience is Follies dancers will not follow the strict rules for dances out in the open and will get the club in trouble with the city. That and they tend to be loud and rude and start fights with other dancers.

Several Follies dancers are now at Tattletales. Not sure if permanent or not. They told me July 1 is the Follies opening. It is because they have been ruled a live entertainment venue and they are not fighting it.

are theses cubans? Griffins? I might have to make a trip to Tattletales. I debating to go if i should go to Tattletales or Fannies but I was thinking of making a trip this weekend because it sounds like they are the best clubs opened atm for mileage.

Are they good for dayshift? I suspect it will mostly be air dances/low mileage grinding?

Heard from a person that works there that it’s July 1st unless it gets pushed. Fingers crossed.

Been seeing this follies girl OTC while it's been closed, she's kept giving me vague answers on when it's supposed to open again. Either she's lost her job or the dancers don't even know. Either way, I just want it to reopen lol tired of seeing the same girl.

2200 cases in one day. If Follies opens, Georgia will report 5000 a day

So I learned that Follies’ license has been pulled by the city. They thought they were going to win the appeal to open up on July 1st but lost. Now they have to wait at least 14 days before they can appeal again. Their closure is not COVID related. They are legally can’t open right now.

    Not looking good for them.

Most of Atlanta does not seem friendly to strip-clubs given the no-touch-clubs in most areas - looks like it's gonna get worse - IMO only the legalization of sex-work can change things in the future in Atlanta or most of the country.

Oh no! I’m fine with closing them all temporarily until the virus is gone. Actually, will never go unless I test positive and recover (become immune) or the pandemic ends. However, closing Follies is for good is painful. It’s the diamond in the rough. I never had experience anywhere near Follies in my life. Despite all issues (club size, smoking) I see Follies a club like no other. Shall it be closed for good, life will be meaningless. Don’t know who the fuck this official that wants to shut it down? And why? Are they hurting ppl? Why doesn’t he/she go find a real problem to fix?
