As of Tuesday, 58,233 have died of COVID-19 in the United States, according to a Reuters tally, eclipsing in 12 weeks the total number of Americans killed during 16 years of U.S. military involvement in Vietnam. U.S. coronavirus deaths have averaged about 2,000 a day this month.

Totally meaningless comparison solely designed to make COVID-19 seem scarier than it is. According to the CDC 647,000 Americans die every year from heart disease. cdc.gov That's 12,442 per week, or almost 150,000 every twelve weeks.
