New York
A pal of mine was stranded in the subway train during that NYC blackout on saturday night. While in the subway car there was this guy who was complaining real loud.
"Damnit!! I'm going to be late for work."
The guy was all dressed up in a suit and tie while carrying a briefcase. Pardon my ignorance fellas but what kind of job would this guy have to be working on a Saturday night?

Don't know, but it could be most anything.

Special meeting, people otherwise work from home.

Administrator for something which runs around clock, like airport, hospital.

Major cities work 24 hours a day...I've seen plenty of people like that very late when I was there.

There's a fella here who wears a suit n tie to strip clubs.
white, polyester.
He wanders in NYC area sometimes.
So organized and meticulous, with strategies and attention to details - that it can feel like "work".
Sure he'd be pissed if stranded in a subway

Don't know about the briefcase though

Anything that involves international business could be going strong all night.

"It's 5 o'clock somewhere" also means "It's 9 o'clock AM somewhere else."

I have no idea. I gave up “being late” for anything about 15 years ago. Everyday is my Monday and everyday is my Friday. I have zero set time to be anywhere and can be nowhere if I so choose. I am the least important person with zero authority that I know and I am paid very well for such.
