last commentAnd Stokely would say, “How come we have to be nonviolent? How come America admires nonviolence only in black people, but otherwise they admire John Wayne, you know? And why do we have to do that?”

In my opinion, MLK misunderstood Ghandi. He thought non-violence was a claiming of moral superiority. He was down for the Montgomery Bus boycott, but against the lunch counter sit it. He said it was unlawful and unchristian. This is why many don't like MLK and don't like to listen to him.
As says, for Ghandi, "Non-violence was a tactic not a strategy. He always had a violent means available." And I think the same could be said of Jesus.
People who stand up for themselves are respected. But also people who promote peace in time of conflict are also respected.
The one who is not respected is the one who is afraid to fight, and even afraid to take life.

The nation wants us to be non violent or they'll use violence against us.... A nation 20 years at war, preaching uprisings and coups in other countries tells its own people to be non violent ..... interesting.
