Interesting coverage. Most of the sex worker stuff I have read have to do with the US. I haven’t read much on foreign experiences.
The impression I got however (admittedly second hand) is that the red light district is still alive and well, except most of the sex workers are Malaysian. They aren’t native to Singapore specifically, but it’s the best nearby place for money.
And there are mega large options for sex workers. there are entire floors and areas dedicated to different “areas”—for example the third floor of one area had lady boys.
Plus business travelers (at least western ones) don’t have to search very far for sex workers, even if they never venture to the brothels. Many will hang out in hotel lobbies and pitch for services right there and then.
