NBA off-season talk

NinaBambina
Who the fuck is Ninabambina?
So, we're all still trying to figure out where LeBron will end up next season. I thought LAL, but looks like another player is expressing interest in going there...

Kawhi wants out of San Antonio so badly he is willing to give up his max deal ($200M) to get traded to another team for lesser pay. And reports are showing he wants to go to LAL!

Could LeBron and Kawhi end up on the same team? The Lakers would have to trade so many players and draft picks to make that happen. And at first, I thought Kawhi going to LA wasn't realistic. Didn't think SanAn and LA would be willing to do a big trade together. But if Kawhi wants to be there badly enough, he will. Maybe LeBron will end up in Philly although I really thought he was going to LA. Or maybe he'll end up in Houston, but I think that'd actually be a bad fit. This Kawhi thing might change all of that.

I am now pretty upset that I was defending Kawhi for sitting out in the playoffs. I had no idea he wanted out, so I thought he was saving his health for next season when the Spurs might possibly have a chance to beat the Warriors. I was wrong. He was preserving himself so he could be healthy for another team. I'd be pissed if I were a Spurs fan. If you want to leave, fine, but don't give up on your current team in the end. Bitch move.

This brings us to San Antonio. The great franchise is going to fall apart. Manu has maybe one year left, and Tony is past his prime. They need more young talent. And I now am questioning if Popovich will even remain the head coach. Seems like the entire Spurs organization is on the verge of unraveling.

Regarding the champs, their core group is clearly staying together at least through next year, with their biggest stars obviously sticking around for several more years.

I think Boston being healthy will be the team to beat in the east. But with two top players up for grabs (LeBron, Kawhi), who knows?

I think Lebron ends up in LA. The money outside of basketball will be enormous if he goes to tinsel town.

I've been calling it for a while now that LeBron goes to LA. But now with Kawhi expressing interest in going, I am confused. Could they both end up there?

    Certainly interesting.

I think it comes down to three teams:
    1. Charlotte
    2. Memphis
    3. Sacramento
They're kind of under the radar. Surprised few have mentioned these potential destinations.

  • NinaBambina

I've seen Sacramento talked about on social media a little here and there.

I just think LeBron in particular wants to go somewhere where he is guaranteed to have a shot at at least one more ring, and Sac isn't exactly promising. Kawhi also probably wants to go to a team that is of a higher caliber. But, I mean, it's open to discussion.

If LeBron goes to LA they will certainly be better, but not championship caliber, although it will be iconic to see him there. If he and Kawhi both ended up there somehow, they'd have a chance at being a contender for at least a good playoff run, but they'd have to get rid of so many players it would really just end up being the Kawhi-Lebron show. Not sure how that would end up.
  • Omg legit i am.the biggest lebron fan ever!! Jus seeing this post made me happy

Idk why, he just got swept.
  • Love his attitude as it relates to career
  • Many people are "positive" and have made it out but there is something specific and amd exceptional about.his style (not denying that everyone is unique in their own way) which is too much to type on here
  • He got swept. But after 1st game his hand had bad injury. He scored 51 pts first game and no denying he is one of the greats..the level pf greatness is debatable but the fact that his greatness is significant is not
  • NinaBambina
I'd like to stay on topic without making this a LeBron thread but the announcement of his injury after getting swept is as "LeBron" as LeBron can be. He also purposefully misguided reporters by saying in the press conference that he was "basically playing with a broken hand" to set the narrative that his hand was broken, when in fact what he had was a bone contusion which is a fancy word for bruise. He had a bruise. He should have just taken his L instead of waiting until after the sweep to make excuses.

His hand seemed fine when he walked off the court and was giving fancy handshakes to all his friends and family. He requires no surgery at all, as again, it was just a contusion. It is not going to affect his off-season, so it's not really an off-season issue to me except perhaps how he chose to address it.

I recall Kobe back in like 2010 playing the entire playoffs and finals with an ACTUAL broken hand (I believe it was a broken index finger) and it was his shooting hand. He fought through it and won the title instead of getting swept.

LeBron is a pathological liar to create his own narrative, and is a self-serving narcissist. This takes away from his talent to me, and is a reason I stopped watching the NBA for years.

    Thank you. :)
  • ...again, the extent of his greatness is certainly debatable, but not the significance of it.
  • His ego.can be very disgusting and not justifiable many times though. This is a qualification, rather than rebuttal, to my most recently made claim hehe.

Not just any ass mind you...........but I've been saying he stays in Cleveland all along -Don't be surprised if you see Paul George and John Wall both in Cleveland.next year. ( and I don't mean playing against the Cavs)
  • NinaBambina
Flagooner you've been using the term "ass lickers" since I called you one, you Bronsexual.

LeBron and Kawhi are both star players, it's natural that people will talk about them in an off-season thread because we don't know if one is staying or going somewhere else, and the other has an explicit desire to leave. You're the one with your tongue always stuck up LeBron's ass.

Warrenboy75 if he stays in Cleveland, I think it'll be his last season there. It's not like they're going to win a title next year. He just seems really frustrated in the organization (even supposedly self-inflicting an injury to himself out of frustration).

I am watching a little bit of coverage right now on NBA TV, switching between that and a cooking show I like. I can't watch too much because I have two shows set to record at 9 and I'm invested in both. Plus I know NBA TV will air it again tomorrow, re-air it right after midnight.

    He's not.

Anyone have an idea where Lebron and Kawhi are going now that we saw the draft outcome?

I think Kawhi really wants to get to LA. I think LeBron really wants a chance at getting a 4th ring before Steph, Klay, and Draymond.

"Where did you predict this a year ago Nina?"

Jester - Look through my discussion points if you want. I have BEEN saying he is going to LAL.

"Counting the posts I make is a little obsessive isn’t it?"
You have made 3 discussion topics since I made this one, Shailynn. It isn't hard or obsessive to know how to count to 3, Shailynn. You refuse to comment on this thread because you're mad that I beat you to it on an NBA off season thread, Shailynn. You've now made 3 new discussion topics about various NBA deals since I made this one, Shailynn. This isn't an ESPN message board, Shailynnnnn. If you weren't such a hater you could've commented here instead of creating three new threads, Shailynnnnn. All of your threads are subject matter specifically pertaining to this thread, you just came up with dumb names to disguise it, like "let the saga begin" and "NBA 20," Shailynnnnn.

He did notice me, txttyfag. That's why he purposefully made 3 new discussions after mine, txttyfag. Also why flagooner (one of my main haters) made a thread thanking him for all the NBA posts he's been making... Txttyfagggg.

Doesnt matter. Gsw is just gonna win uncontested. Houston got marginally worse. Lakers are a 5 or 6 seed. 3-8 is gonna be a random clusterfuck of lakers, okc, utah, portland, Minnesota and others all competing to eventually lose to gsw(or Houston). Maybe boston can give them a fight but i doubt it.
  • NinaBambina
Chessmaster, what you said is pretty much how I feel. I think Utah even has a chance to be a 3-4 seed.

But where is Kawhi? That will help make more accurate estimations. And the question stands, can Kawhi ever be as good as he once was? I feel like his mental game is off, but of course that was likely linked to his unhappiness in SanAn.

If Boston is healthy, they will be good. Does everyone think it'll be Boston or Philly in the finals, or have we forgotten the JV conference all together now that LeBron left? Lol.

  • chessmaster
Govikings, yes the nba has always been "top-heavy" but theres always been at least a few teams that had a legit chance, even the last 2 years(houston and a healthy boston squad last year and spurs year before in addition to gsw). Now though i really dont think there is or will ever be(this season at least) any doubt.
  • GoVikings

I’m surprised Nina doesn’t like LeBron, especially as a woman. He’s a great representive/face for the NBA

He’s obviously an amazing player. He doesn’t get in trouble off the court. He’s a family man. He plays the game unselfishly.

    What’s not to like?

  • flagooner
    @GoVikings

LeBron is the GOAT. Haters gonna hate.
  • .....lol i think the comparison between the ego of lebron vs nina can be summarized in a different way, precisely by shedding light on the fact that lebron attempts to demonstarte his ego in the right places and in the right way, whereas Ninabambina does not.

For instance, lebron does not discuss his accomplishments pertaining to basketball in the context of NFL rules nor in NFL forums. In contrast , nina talk about her legal ambitions as well as her own self perception on here, in front of an audience who neither comprehensively understands how the law school admissions game functions(nor should u, since you would have to do a bit of research for that), nor has inquired about what she thinks of herself to the EXTENT WHICH SHE discusses. Lmao what does what she thinks of herself or what she wants to do have anything to do regarding strip club affairs. What she does is synonymous to me walking into a kindergarten class and talking about how im in third grade..doing so is not only enirely unrelated to the context at hand, but only provides the false sense of ego one(she) most likely seeks to gain.

Like of course a comment that has at least SOME kind of substance will seem adequate on a fucking strip club forum. But take yoyr style of arguing to the legal field in which you aspire to enter, THEN tells us if "how you write and argue " bear any quality in that RELEVANT context.

Now shes gonna talk about how what i say is irrelevant to this forum.and shes going to be more embarrasing for pointing that out and in turn conflating "lack of popularity" for my posts with irrelevance. My posts and what i say have ALL been about what others have said or about this industry..the only time i talked about myself(my school, my looks) was when multiple members brought it up first , hence still being relevant rather not Lmao.

Then shes gonna talk abt how this post was very long, but in doing so, her dumbass must have forgetten the multuple lengthy posts and comments she has provided as well!!!! Furthermore, at least my lenghty comments do not.involve me articulating how great i think of my self, unless they were a response to someone questionong my greatness in the first place. Thats bc instead of devoting time to how telling others how great i think i am on tuscl, i would rather e devote it to competing with myself or others in the field of law who actually are already great..not talking about it amongst members who most likely dont even know what the fuck t14 means or what lsat score separates you from getting into cornell vs harvard law (which they shouldnt be expected to as i already stated lol).

BUT, are we really surprised that someone would come to TUSCL to gain a false ego(whether that was her intention or not bc whatever ego she gets frm here is false since she would have to test her skills to the real world for them to hold any merit) when she continously braggs about the attention reveived from a post where she had to pretend to be someone else(aka me lol) ?

Shitt..im not even bragging abt her having to pretend to be me OR ATLEAST make it about me to get attention..i just pointed that out to show how she is epitome of a false ego lol

Nikki out! Have a nice day to anyone reads this including nina.

I wasn't wrong, I've been saying LeBron is going to LA since he bought his newer house there. You are just another member of the Nina fanclub who loves to hate. It's painfully obvious and makes you look stupid btw.

I'm glad the Warriors signed Cousins. I think he will fit in. Damn, the Warriors are going to be unstoppable. They'll probably win the next 3-4 championships (you wanna challenge that too, jester? I've said that before as well).

LeBron will probably set things up so after he's done his 4 years with LA he can go back to Cleveland and have his son drafted there and retire after playing a season on the same team as LeBron Jr. Lol.

You proudly announced (twice) that you predicted he was going to LA as if this was some kind of bold prediction. When called on your shit you try to dance around it instead of admitting you're wrong, this is generally what you do when I point out your wrong.

No. Did I plainly state it here, at least several months ago (and possibly in 2017 but idk and I don't care)? Why do you care so much? I literally just showed you me saying it months ago. Leonard for DeRozan does make some sense. Both teams get to part with a player that they don't really want. But the Raptors are only going to get Kwahi for one year. Then he's going to the West Coast.
  • NinaBambina

Nina, I think the Raptors are going to try to make it work with Kawhi in Toronto. On paper, that's a good team that is capable of winning the East. They will try to do the same thing that OKC did with Paul George. But it would not surprise me at all to see Kawhi traded before the trading deadline if he has not agreed to an extension by then.

Looking past LeBron I'm seriously trying to figure out what the hell the Lakers are doing.

Basically with the moves after him it looks as if they are throwing a bunch of crud on a wall and looking to see if any of it is going to stick. I don't see any strategy and much sense in how they are going to challenge for the West.
  • NinaBambina
I think the Lakers honestly know they will be very popular this upcoming season, because of their good franchise / good name, and the addition of Lebroom. I think they know they will not be contenders.
  • Huntsman

I’m usually wrong in my sports predictions but I think the Lakers are now a fair shot for a playoff birth but that’s about it. They will be better and have helped their brand by acquiring Lebron but I don’t see them challenging for a title. Teams need talent, of course, but it’s not merely a matter of the sum of the parts. And I’m not so sure that their sum would even get them there.

My point is after landing LeBron most of the subsequent pick-ups seem to have been made with no rhyme or reason. Talent aside ( which is suspect on the follow-up pick-ups) there type of players they have acquired don't even add up to a cohesive team.

And that isn't counting papa Ball inserting his agenda and mouth into the equation.

When you consider the average team in the Western Conference is better than the average team in the East I am wondering if the Lakers are going to make the playoffs and if they do are we talking about the 7th or 8th seed?

On a side note it seems the reasons I thought LeBron would stay in Cleveland at least one more year are still on his mind although he has left. Still doing good deeds in Northeast Ohio.
