So, we're all still trying to figure out where LeBron will end up next season. I thought LAL, but looks like another player is expressing interest in going there...
Kawhi wants out of San Antonio so badly he is willing to give up his max deal ($200M) to get traded to another team for lesser pay. And reports are showing he wants to go to LAL!
Could LeBron and Kawhi end up on the same team? The Lakers would have to trade so many players and draft picks to make that happen. And at first, I thought Kawhi going to LA wasn't realistic. Didn't think SanAn and LA would be willing to do a big trade together. But if Kawhi wants to be there badly enough, he will. Maybe LeBron will end up in Philly although I really thought he was going to LA. Or maybe he'll end up in Houston, but I think that'd actually be a bad fit. This Kawhi thing might change all of that.
I am now pretty upset that I was defending Kawhi for sitting out in the playoffs. I had no idea he wanted out, so I thought he was saving his health for next season when the Spurs might possibly have a chance to beat the Warriors. I was wrong. He was preserving himself so he could be healthy for another team. I'd be pissed if I were a Spurs fan. If you want to leave, fine, but don't give up on your current team in the end. Bitch move.
This brings us to San Antonio. The great franchise is going to fall apart. Manu has maybe one year left, and Tony is past his prime. They need more young talent. And I now am questioning if Popovich will even remain the head coach. Seems like the entire Spurs organization is on the verge of unraveling.
Regarding the champs, their core group is clearly staying together at least through next year, with their biggest stars obviously sticking around for several more years.
I think Boston being healthy will be the team to beat in the east. But with two top players up for grabs (LeBron, Kawhi), who knows?

LeBron dies.
